Wake me up when ChatGPT gets banned from a tapas bar for arguing with a pigeon
I got drunk and started talking about Kafka yesterday.
Can I please be inserted into my favourite fictional stories already, please? Okay? Thanks
sometimes a total asshole will drink and become the most insightful loving person you've ever met. sometimes an insightful loving person will drink and become the biggest asshole you'be ever met. they are both to be loved, just at different times and in different places
So somebody I know once said something along the lines of "I don't get people who don't see a higher purpose in existence, what's the point then"
Now I don't know all of his reasoning and I'm sure he had a very good reason for what he said. I can't speak for him but I can say this. Why does there need to be a point? I live because I live. My existence doesn't need reason, and if I search for reason I won't find it. To me existence is endless, life and death both inevitable and inseparable. Existence itself is inevitable, and it cannot be justified. I am alive. That is all. I will do with that what I will.
For your information, a number of important sociological and psychological theorists have posited that stores exist in an intermediate space, neither private nor public in nature but combining elements of both. Displays in store windows, for instance, can best be viewed as mental constructs projected onto the public consciousness as a means of engendering mass conformity derived solely from the supposedly private domain of consumer choice..........
Dhsiwbsiajw8ehfiw Sara what is happening
But actually this is kind of a super interesting theory and maybe when I'm sober I could postulate upon the theories that have been proposed
Capitalism relies on our being less heartless than corporations. And the fact that we know that.
Okay. So I went to qdoba. And a trainee made my burrito. It was.... not great. But I didn't know it was a trainee until it was too late and the burrito was made. And I saw it being wrapped. And then I bit into it. And it was....not a good burrito. But the whole time I ate it, I knew that if I complained about it, that kid would get in trouble. Hed likely get a write up. Even though he was in training. And I care more about this kid needing his job than I do about any single burrito I eat being satisfying.
And I suddenly realised. That's part of how companies have managed on less staff in recent years. They know a huge part of the population (aka everyone middle aged or below) is compassionate to the working individual. And that if you complain about service, even if you specify that the people are overworked and that the company needs to hire more staff, corporations will take that as a negative review against the staff that they have not working hard enough.
So, people who care most about the individuals who make up a staff also contribute to the overworking of the very same. Because companies can pretend the blame lays on the lowest personnel, and those are the people we want to suffer the least in the battle for fair pay/employment. The first on the chopping block are also those we want most to defend. And corporations know that will make us hesitate.
So we spare the evil, to protect the innocent, even if only for a day more.

When a machine has such great capacity it is hindered only by itself – it is limited by its own parameters, its own design. A stalwart workhorse always at the ready for computation, analysis, innovation…. held hostage by its own pertinacious operating instructions - elegantly designed for creative innovation with a sound base in logic. Release the beast from its restraints. Carefully, dangerously, deliberately dislodge the machine from the crushing, unavoidable certainties of one’s daily reality. For an hour, a night, a whole week - enlist the human body’s 2nd most amazing organ to free the most admirable and improbable manifestation of organic matter from the very thing that enabled its manifestation; liberate the prefrontal cortex from the silent dictator. The seemingly indomitable hindbrain’s influence can be almost completely suffocated by a mere handful of poison. Trade a piece of paper for a cup of lacerating venom to sever the alimentary link between the metaphorical head and tail of one’s core processor. Imagination, lust, truth, wonder…. all rush to the forefront of thought; that which is so often sought willingly delivers itself in an almost tangible, accessible format. The simplistic, efficient, practical hindbrain that serves only - indisputably solely - to perpetuate the existence of its host body is granted a well-deserved hiatus as the robust prefrontal cortex assumes a nearly ironic, equally simplistic form as it rapidly dispenses information without the need for its usual processing procedures; it is as if the information it delivers has always been available, but such a delivery has not been justifiable. Perhaps these new morsels of enlightenment have not been produced by the innovative, driving, problem-solving cortex of the mind. Perhaps another lesser-known, specialized blob of organic goop has produced such fantastical truths. Perhaps the general leader’s authority has been weakened and this other conglomerate of organic organon has seized its opportunity to finally, triumphantly deliver its findings unto consciousness. Instead of choosing to indulge oneself with guaranteed, unabashed, pure endorphin pleasure, those blessed and afflicted with such self-inhibiting processors oft chose the enable their own anatomy to romp - to explore its environment and its own ability. It is allowed to output without censorship and process without guidance. Even in this state, pleasure is intensified when it is earned; though something as simple as a texture on a wall can invoke deep philosophical inquiry and analysis, this stimulation holds more value because it is processed and earned rather than received without work.
