Another name for this dish is Aloor Dam. It is an Indian favorite where baby potatoes are cooked in a spicy and sour gravy. This dish tastes great and makes you feel good. It goes well with rice or naan.
Ingredients: 500g baby potatoes, boiled and peeled. 2 tablespoons oil. 1 onion, finely chopped. 2 tomatoes, pureed. 1 teaspoon ginger paste. 1 teaspoon garlic paste. 1 teaspoon cumin seeds. 1 teaspoon coriander powder. 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder. 1 teaspoon Kashmiri red chili powder. 1/2 cup yogurt. Salt to taste. Fresh coriander leaves for garnish.
Instructions: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter. Add chopped onions and saut until golden brown. Add ginger and garlic paste, and cook for 2 minutes. Add tomato puree, coriander powder, turmeric powder, Kashmiri red chili powder, and salt. Cook until oil separates from the masala. Add boiled potatoes and yogurt. Mix well to coat the potatoes with the masala. Cover the pan with a lid and let it cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Once potatoes are tender and the gravy has thickened, garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve hot with rice or naan.
