Ingredients: 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced. 2 cups shredded smoked Gouda cheese. 2 cups heavy cream. 4 cloves garlic, minced. 1/4 cup unsalted butter. 1/4 cup all-purpose flour. Salt and pepper to taste. Fresh chopped parsley for garnish.
Instructions: Warm the oven up to 190C 375F. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat. For about one minute, until the garlic smells good, add the minced garlic. To make a roux, stir in flour. Stir the food all the time for two minutes. Slowly add the heavy cream while stirring all the time until the mixture gets thick. Shred the smoked Gouda cheese and mix it in until it melts and is smooth. Add pepper and salt to taste. Spread out slices of potatoes in a baking dish that has been greased. Add some of the cheese sauce to the potatoes. Layer the potatoes and sauce again and again, ending with a layer of cheese sauce on top. Place the dish in the oven and cover it with aluminum foil. Bake for 45 minutes. Take off the foil and bake for another 15 to 20 minutes, or until the potatoes are soft and the top is golden brown. Before serving, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley.
