the saying ”Don’t judge a book by its cover” is pure bullshit
i mean this in both the literal and metaphorical meaning of this saying. every time i go to the library, the way i pick out books is by looking at the shelves as i walk by, and if a spine stands out to me i inspect the cover and title, and half the time i’ll either instantly put it back on the shelves or into my bag. if im uncertain, i’ll then read the back blurb and think for approximately 3 seconds. either ill be certain ill like it by then or still think itll be either mediocre or bad but take it anyways. every book i’ve ever taken off the shelves and read based entirely off the cover, a book i picked entirely on intuition, has been a straight masterpiece. none of the books i ever was uncertain about was ever that level of good, was just plain bad, or wasn’t the type of media i like. i judge every book i read by the cover, and it has never failed me. any book someone has made me read i didn’t think id like, i didn’t, and vice versa. 84% of the time, i can get a general understanding of a person after having like a 2 minute conversation with them, but that’s probably wrong and or just a me thing
