‘Baby,’ a raspy voice murmured into the darkness, an arm snaking around your waist as the bed dipped.
You groaned at the disturbance, the slight tingle of Jonathan’s facial hair against your ear pulling you from your dreams.
‘Baaa–by,’ he repeats in a whisper, ‘Are you awake?’
The smell of alcohol wafted from his lips, causing you to scrunch your nose though you refused to open your eyes for him.
He sighed in defeat, cuddling into your back, pulling you against him so that you were flush against one another despite the warmth of the air.
‘자기, it’s hot,’ you grumble as you attempt to pull away from his grasp which only made him hold you tighter much to your chagrin.
‘You’re awake,’ he concludes into your back where his face was currently nuzzled, that same rasp in his tone that told you he’d gone too hard during his concert rehearsal.
‘Mm,’ you murmur tiredly, ‘Thanks to someone,’
‘Give me a kiss,’ he murmurs, shifting so that he hovered over you while you lazily puckered your lips, one of your eyes opening to look at the alarm that read 3:14am.
Satisfied with the kisses he planted all over your face before finally pecking your lips, he shifted once more, rolling onto his back and pulling you into his side while you groaned at the sudden movement. Even then, you couldn’t help but drag your nails across his chest in soothing circles, something that had become automatic for you to do after the year and half of being with Jonathan. You guys were comfortable, so in-tune with one another that it was almost scary.
The room was quiet and you had almost fallen asleep when Johnathan asked hesitantly into the dark, ‘Y/N...Do you love me?’
Your response was automatic and without hesitation, a quiet whisper that screamed volumes to him, ‘Always.’
His grip tightened as he turned you so that you were facing him, asking gently, ‘Even with the age difference?’
‘Mhm.’
‘Why? Everyone else says tha–‘
You knew it was a sensitive topic for him, age. While you didn’t care, both yours and his friends tended to make jokes about it that tended to cut deep even though the difference was barely a few years. The jokes didn’t help with the fact that he was already insecure about the age difference despite his mental age making up for it. He was the most childish 32 year old you’d ever met.
‘Fuck what anyone else says,’ you tell him with a whisper, squinting to look at him, your eyes adjusting to the dark in time to make out his worried face, ‘I love you.’
He buried his face into your neck, apologising with a sigh, ‘Sorry. I did it again didn’t I?’
You pulled your arm out from under his and gently ran your hand through his hair, detangling the soft strands as you went, ‘It’s okay.’
He groaned into your throat, ‘No it’s not. I’m sorry, babe.’
You sighed, hugging him tight despite the fact that you were definitely starting to heat up thanks to the humid weather, ignoring the smell of alcohol that came from his direction.
‘You’re not that old, Dummie,’ you murmur with a smile, your hand running down his back lovingly, now fully awake as he snuggled against you.
‘We have a huge gap between us,’ he reminds you with a huff.
‘It’s like what? Four, five, six, seven years? I haven’t even counted,’ you lie, a small smile on your lips, ‘What does it matter, anyway?’
He chuckled, pressing light kisses to the skin at the base of your neck, ‘Girl stop playing.’
You laughed, pulling at his hair gently until he was facing you, ‘Don’t over-think it Jonathan. Do you love me?’
‘Of course,’ he murmurs, pressing his lips to yours as you smiled into the kiss, pecking him lightly.
‘Then that’s all that matters,’ you say against his lips as you kissed him a second, third and fourth time.
Jonathan sighed, rolling so that you were semi-laying on top of him, one arm holding you tight around the waist while the other hand was planted firmly on your behind. He murmured, ‘Damn, how’d I get so lucky?’
You rested your chin on his chest and smirked, slapping at his hand that was now rubbing suggestive circles on your behind, ‘Yah. I’m not doing this right now. You reek of alcohol.’
‘Baby,’ he protests as you roll off of him, putting a pillow between you two, ‘Go shower,’ you say with a laugh, ‘Or brush your teeth at least!’
He grumbled, attempting to pull you back into his arms, his previous worries long forgotten as he now tried to plant kisses on whatever skin you hadn’t managed to hide away beneath the sheets.
You smacked at him again, though you did turn slightly to peck his lips, ‘That’s why I don’t care about your age,’ you say as he pouts at your simple kiss, ‘You’re just like a teenage boy. You only want one thing!’
‘Which teenage boys you been hanging around?’ he asks with a frown, watching as you snuggled back into the bed while he sat up in dismay.
‘Go brush your teeth, you man-child!’ you say with an eye-roll, your arm stretching to push him off the bed and towards the bathroom.
Grumbling, Jonathan got off of the bed and wondered into the ensuite, the light of the bathroom seeping into the room, falling short of your face but giving him enough light to see the easy rise and fall of your shoulders and the messy mop of hair on your head that was result of him rolling you around the sheets and pillows.
Part of him felt bad for waking you but the other half of him was glad; pillow talk was one of his favorite moments with you, even if he did ruin the moment thanks to his soju-breath. A smile graced his lips as he called out from the sink, ‘자기!’
‘Wha-at?’ you groan into your pillow with annoyance while Jonathan smiled, applying toothpaste to his brush.
‘I love you.’
You grunted in response, having already begun to fall asleep. Jonathan’s smile widened as he scrubbed at his teeth, leaning against the door frame to watch you; love you he did. More than he ever thought he could love a person.
I mean, who else would he listen to when it came to brushing his teeth over having sex? No one but you.

The business of the airport was something you always hated. Everyone rushing to catch their flights, loved ones saying goodbye to each other holding on as if it was their last time seeing one another. Then again there was the opposite side of the negative, the reunion of the loved ones. You would see men picking up their women and peppering them with light kisses or parents hugging their children happy to have them back home. Today sadly that was not the welcoming you would be getting as your boyfriend was unable to get away from his work. You walked quickly to the baggage claim and located your bag among the others that spun around on the belt. It was always easy to locate at it had the AOMG logo drawn on it in black magic marker which made it stand out with its bright yellow color. The bag was ugly but you could easily spot it from the rest which is why you had it. With your bag in hand you make your way through the crowd and to the taxi area easily hailing a taxi to take you home. Once in the taxi you reach for your phone and power it on checking if you had any missed messages or calls and saw none. You thought it was odd that you hadn’t heard from your boyfriend in a couple of days but figured he was busy with work like he always was. He was trying to finish this album and get it out which meant he was spending long hours in the studio, you couldn’t really get upset with him about that. You knew what you were signing up for when you agreed to date each other, you made a promise to yourself that you would always be on his side supporting him no matter what.
All too quickly the taxi arrived at your apartment and you paid your fair before lugging the heavy luggage up the stairs. With the new promotion, you had just gotten the first thing you wanted to do was move into an apartment with an elevator. Your job wasn’t anything fancy, you were working for a music magazine making bare minimum. Your job basically was to help the photographer with anything they needed on the shoot, but now with the promotion you were going to be the one taking the pictures. You hadn’t told anyone as you were just informed of this on your last shoot but you were over the moon with excitement and the first person you wanted to tell was Kiseok.
Stepping into your apartment was like a big weight off your shoulder, you were finally home. You discarded your bags at the door and went right to your room needing to get clothes to wash up. A shower was always the first thing you did when you got home as it helped relax you. After getting washed up and putting some clothes on you fell onto your bed your eyes finding the picture of you and Kiseok took. Both of you smiled brightly at the camera with the snow falling lightly around you. Kiseok had his arms wrapped around you from behind with his head resting on your shoulder. You two were so in love and everyone knew it, they often would tease you two about getting married. You knew Kiseok wanted to get married and wanted a family of his own but you weren’t ready. He was bringing so much to the relationship and you wanted to do the same, now with this new promotion you were finally at a point where you were comfortable with things and the idea of marriage was more appealing now than ever. Unable to hold the excitement in seeing your boyfriend whom you hadn’t seen in 3 weeks you jump off the bed and grabbed your things. Checking the time you knew he would still be at the studio.
Arriving at the studio you walk in saying hellos to the staff that you ran into, some of them stopping to ask how you have been. You knew everyone who worked here from the artists to the lady who swept the floors. The first person you ran into was Chase who was walking out of one of the rooms that held the artists there.
“Chase!”
“Y/n, wow what are you doing here?”
He asked looking a little caught off guard with his eyes glancing side to side. You tilt your head to the side as you study his body gesture, he had one hand in his pocket and his other hand was behind his neck rubbing it. He looked nervous for some reason.
“I came to see my boyfriend, have you seen Kiseok?”
“Umm….yeah I mean he is here somewhere.”
“Ok, well nice seeing you.”
You waived at the skittish Chase as you kept walking towards the door that held your boyfriend. Said door suddenly opened as you were getting closer and out stepped a woman you have not seen before. You both bowed as she walked passed you, she was dressed in some upscale clothing that probably cost the same amount as a month’s rent if not more. You opened the door slowly not bothering to knock.
“Jagi did you forget something?”
Your boyfriend said not bothering to turn around. You shut the door feeling the warmth drain from your body.
“Jagi?”
Kiseok quickly turned around with a look of terror on his face as he realized who was standing at his door.
“Y/n!”
“Hello Kiseok, were you expecting someone else?”
“When did you get back?”
“Today, I sent you some texts and called to let you know when I was going to be back.”
“You did?”
“Yes, and I know you got them as it says you seen them. So who was that woman?”
“What woman?”
“The one who just left, I imagine she is this jagi you were thinking I was.”
“Y/n, why don’t you go back home and I will call you later.”
“How about we talk right the fuck now.”
Kiseok let out a frustrated sigh as his hands came up to his face to rub it. You could tell he was frustrated but you could care less at this point.
“Tell me Kiseok.”
“Y/n I don’t know what to say, I mean we have been fighting lately. Every time I brought up the idea of marriage you shut down and won’t talk to me. You know how much I want to get married, I want to start my own family. I want to have kids and watch them grow up. But you won’t even talk about that!”
“That’s because I wasn’t ready! You knew that, I have explained it so many times as to why I didn’t want to get married.”
“Why do we have to go about things your way? Why can’t you just do things my way for once?”
“For once? I have gone with everything you have wanted since we started dating! I don’t say no to anything and I have never brought up that your always busy with work. I have done nothing but be the supportive girlfriend to you.”
“Yet the one thing I really want you denied me of.”
“So who was that girl Kiseok?”
“My fiancé.”
“Excuse me your what?”
“My fiancé.”
“How the fuck do you have a fiancé when we have never broken up. We have been together for 3 years. So that means you cheated on me?”
“I never meant to hurt you.”
“How long? How long have you been lying to me and been with this other woman.”
“Six months.”
“So for six months you have been meeting this girl behind my back. Have you fucked her?”
“That’s not really any of your business.”
“The hell it isn’t, as you have been still sleeping with me!”
“Yes I have.”
You move from your spot at the door and start pacing back and forth not able to understand what he was saying. The man you have loved for the past three years has just revealed that not only has he cheated on you but he is going to marry some other woman. All of those nights where he sent you right to voicemail, the canceled plans, they were all because he was cheating. You had a feeling but you didn’t play into that idea because you had assumed your boyfriend was just as madly in love with you as you were with him. Chase popped up in your head and you stopped mid step. The way he was acting made sense now, he knew. Thinking back the past few months things were adding up, in fact all of the guys were acting strange lately and now you knew why.
“They know don’t they?”
“Who?”
“Everyone, Jay, Chase, the guys. They all know don’t they.”
“Yes.”
You turned to him with tears in your eyes, not only was he cheating on you but his friends knew about it. You openly talked about how much you loved Kiseok and were around them acting as if everything was fine but they knew the truth. They knew that the man you loved was seeing another woman and no one said a damn thing.
“I can’t believe this.”
“I am sor.”
“Shut that lying mouth of yours. I don’t want to ever hear you say you are sorry. You aren’t sorry, you made this choice knowing full well what it would do.”
“Y/n…”
“I don’t think there is anything left to say, I hope you are happy and I guess I will come for my things later.”
“I have them all boxed up already, I will send them tomorrow.”
“Wow, you really thought of everything except telling me the truth.”
You turn around walking right out of his room and walking past all the staff and some of the guys. Some tried to call out your name but you held your head high and walked right out of the studio not letting a single tear drop in front of everyone. You didn’t want them to see you break down.
Taking a taxi right home you ignored all the phone calls coming in from the guys, you didn’t need to hear their pity right now. Getting home finally you threw your purse on the ground and went right to the closet grabbing a box. Walking around the room you grabbed all the pictures of the two of you over the years, all the items he bought you, the clothes he left at your place. They all went in that box and you tapped it up not wanting to see anything that would remind you of him or the time you spent together.
Over the next few weeks your friends were there to support you but they thought that the way you were handling it was wrong. They didn’t understand why you didn’t shed any tears and why you weren’t openly cursing him out. You felt the pain and sadness but you didn’t want to deal with it, nothing good would come from becoming a crying mess. Instead you wanted to just focus on my work as your promotion was now common knowledge with everyone at the company. The guys over at AOMG were still trying to contact you to check in, but you still didn’t answer their calls or messages. You knew it was wrong to cut them out of your life but you didn’t know what else to do. You didn’t want to be that ex who still hung out with his friends, you didn’t need to see their faces when his name or his fiancé’s name came up. No you weren’t going to be that girl.
A month after the break up you were at work looking over some pictures from a small photo shoot you had the other day when you started to hear the hushed whispers around you and whenever you looked up you could see people looking away quickly from your face. A friend of yours came over and took you to the stair well.
“Y/n….”
“What is it?”
“It’s happened.”
You looked at her confused as to what she was trying to say. She pulled up her phone typed some things before handing it over to you. There on the screen was an article about Simon D finally tying the knot and a picture of the smiling couple accompanied the article. You handed her the phone back unable to feel anything except this churning feeling in your stomach. Your hand went to your face as you rushed passed her and to the bathroom before emptying the contents of your stomach into the toilet. With nothing left in it, you wiped your mouth with some tissue before leaving the stall and going to the sink. Your friend was there with a bottle of water and an apologetic look in her eyes.
“Please don’t look at me like that.”
“Y/n, we knew this day was coming.”
“I know but it doesn’t make it hurt any less.”
“Maybe you should take the rest of the day off, the boss lady knows and totally understands.”
You nod your head, you knew you were going to be of no use there. Thankfully your boss was sympathetic to your issues as she herself had been cheated on many times and left by her husbands for younger women. On the way home you stop off and grabbed yourself some soup as the vomiting episode had left your stomach feeling uneasy. Stepping into your apartment you didn’t bother turning on any lights and went right to your bed climbing in and pulling the covers over your head. Now alone you finally let the tears fall and the sobs wreck your body. How had things come to this? You were blissfully ignorant to the fact that the man you loved was openly cheating on you and had discarded you like the years together meant nothing. Was marriage that important that a person would end years of a relationship because the other party was hesitant to tie the knot. None of this made any sense to you but you knew it didn’t even matter as the damage was done.
The months dragged on and the stress from your new duties that came along with your new title were taking a tole on you. You often felt lethargic and your head was always pounding. You didn’t have an appetite and your friends were often having to force you to eat something even if it was just a piece of bread. Thankfully your job was getting ready to send you over to LA to do a photo shoot for an artist there who you knew of as he was on friendly terms with the AOMG crew. Jonathan Park also known buy his stage name dumbfounded was making waves with his music and his collaboration with other Korean artists. You were to be the one taking the photos for the article that was being written. The much-needed break was what was keeping you going these days. The boys over at AOMG were finally cutting back on their calls and text messages to you. You only hoped that Jonathan wouldn’t bring up the whole Kiseok thing.
Arriving in LA you had hoped the change of scenery and weather would have lightened your mood but it didn’t, instead you only longed for your bed. Your work only required you to be there for a few days but you had put a request in for some time off which meant your stay in LA was going to be a little longer. The day of the photo shoot you arrived and began setting everything up, it was going to be laid back compared to some of the other artists you normally dealt with. Jonathan was a pretty laid-back kind of guy who had no filter, so anything high class wouldn’t suit his image.
Jonathan arrived just on time going right into hair and makeup before getting dressed in the clothes for the photo shoot. The look on his face was priceless when he realized it was you who were to take his pictures. After the photo shoot you were picking things up and putting everything away when he approached you.
“Y/n, I didn’t expect you here.”
“Surprise!”
“Indeed, so how long are you here for?”
“Well technically only for another day but I put in a vacation request so I will be here for another two weeks.”
“If you don’t have anything planned how about dinner? I can show you around.”
“I would like that.”
Over the next two weeks of being in LA you grew close to Jonathan, not once did he bother you with questions about the split between Kiseok. Nor did he give you the side way glances of pity. It was nice being far away from the drama that everyone knew about. The uneasy feeling of sickness still was there like a gray cloud hovering over your vacation. Jonathan tried to help you with some home remedies his mother swore would help and while they did take a little bit of the uncomfortableness away it didn’t cure you. You had promised him that you would see a doctor the minute you were back in Korea which you knew was what was needed. Being this sick had to be something other than stress from a nasty breakup and a new job. The last day of your vacation came and Jonathan escorted you the airport to see you off. Now you were the picturesque scene of the boy saying his goodbyes to the girl. You may have lingered a little too long in the arms of Jonathan and he may have held you closer then would be normal for friends, neither of you cared to say anything. With a final good bye you went through security and got on your plane heading home.
Even with your promise to see the doctor you ended up not being able to get in for a few more weeks because of work. By the time you were able to see the doctor your sickness was starting to feel a little better and you almost canceled the appointment but thought against it, better safe than sorry. Blood was drawn, vitals were taken, questions were asked, the standard doctor visit. Yet the standard outcome you were expecting never came, you figured it was a virus or the flu. Something normal that would have passed over time, and while this would pass over time it wouldn’t fully pass. No, it would stay with you for the rest of the life.
“Congratulations, you’re pregnant.”
How three simple words could bring joy to a couple’s life only brought pain and panic to yours. You walked out of the doctor’s office in a daze, a picture of the little bean inside your stomach sat in your purse. How didn’t you know? How did you miss the signs? All of these questions ran through your head as you walked out of the doctor’s office and down the street with no destination in mind. Your feet were just walking on their own accord and your mind was someplace else. You didn’t know how this could happen. Had you offended god in some way, surely that had to be the case because why else would he think this sick joke would be ok. Or had you taken part in some horrible sin in your past life and that stain is carrying over into this life? There had to be an explanation as to why the universe would think it was ok to give you a child with the man who cheated and left you because he wanted a family and was sick of waiting. What sick irony was this, what a cruel joke the universe was playing on you. Your feet suddenly stop in front of a newspaper stand and you look over to see magazines with your ex and his new wife on the cover. “Simon D and wife expecting first child”, “Simon D over the moon with joy with the news of his wife’s pregnancy”, “Simon D soon to be daddy caught purchasing new home for his growing family”. Anger filled you as you read the headlines, there he was enjoying his life with his family while you just found out you too were expecting his child. Feeling as if you were on the verge of doing something stupid you decided to grab a taxi to go right home.
Walking up to your apartment you climbed the stairs up to your floor, dreading the thought of having to climb them once you got further along with your swollen stomach. When you finally reached your floor you turned the corner to find a surprise visitor at your door.
“Surprise!”
“Jonathan what are you doing here?”
“I’m here for work.”
“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?”
“Are you going to let me in or are we going to talk out here.”
You ducked your head as you felt your face turn red with embarrassment. Unlocking the door you stepped in and aside to allow him entry. He sat on the couch and you offered him a glass of water that he took with a smile on his face.
“Sorry about just showing up, I really just wanted to surprise you.”
“I am surprised but I am happy to see you.”
“You are?”
“Of course.”
“Good, I wasn’t sure how you would react to me being here without telling you. It’s just I missed you.”
You look up at him with a surprised look on your face, you didn’t imagine those words ever coming out of his mouth.
“I hope I didn’t offend you.”
“No not at all. It’s just..I don’t know what to say. I mean I missed you too.”
“Then that’s all that matters.”
“Yeah maybe but things are different.”
“How so?”
You stand from where you were sitting on the couch and began pacing around. You were unsure about how to explain this to him. Jonathan stood and grabbed your hand pulling you back down to the couch and making you face him.
“Just tell me.”
“I am pregnant.”
You blurted out the ugly truth of things all too quickly. There really was no easy way to tell him that. You sat there for a few minutes with him just opening and shutting his mouth over and over again.
“I understand if you want to leave. My life is a mess right now.”
“When did you find out?”
“Today, I just got back from the doctor.”
“It’s Kiseok’s baby isn’t it?”
“Yes.”
“What are you going to do?”
“I don’t know, part of me wants to go right over to the studio and drop this bomb on him. Watch his whole world crumble down just like he did mine. Another part of me wants to just get rid of it but I could never do that.”
“I vote for not being petty and not getting rid of it. You are better than that.”
“Funny, the one thing he wanted he finally is getting but it’s just in a fucked up way.”
“Are you going to tell him?”
“No…yes..I don’t know. Not right now but maybe later when I am ready.”
“Well even with this news I still very much missed you. I also still want to spend as much time with you as possible while I am here.”
“I would like that.”
Over the next few weeks any free time you had between your work and his you two spent it together. You went out to eat, to the movies, to dinner and of course there were photos taken of the two of you. Just as any celebrity he had an Instagram and would post photos of the two of you together on your adventures. He even did a IG live where he pulled you in and you two talked about what you were doing that day. The rumor mill started up quickly after that, linking the two of you as a couple. Which by the time he left you two had decided to try the long distance relationship thing. A relationship was not what you wanted so soon but the fact that it was long distance helped with setting the pace slow. Him also knowing about the baby and being ok with things made it easier, you had just hoped it would stay this way once the pregnancy news got out and the baby came.
Around your eighth month Jonathan had returned to Korea to be with you while you were getting closer to the delivery date. The two of you were inside a baby store picking out bedding for the baby, he wanted green while you thought gray would be an adequate color since the sex of the baby was unknown. So that is where he found you, standing in the isle of the store holding a gray colored crib sheet in one hand while the other supported your back. You were talking sternly but with a smile on your face while Jonathan imitated you with his green crib sheet.
“Y/n?”
You froze at the sound of his voice from behind you. The hand holding your crib sheet dropped to your side as you turned around to face the man that broke your heart and world.
“Kiseok.”
“Wow, I wasn’t sure if that was you.”
“Kind of wishing I wasn’t me right now either.”
“No that’s not what I meant.”
“What do you need?”
“I just wanted to say hello, it’s been awhile. I didn’t expect to run into you here of all places.”
“Yes, well I didn’t expect that either but here we are.”
The anger and bitterness in your tone was easily heard as Kiseok flinched back and took his time looking at you from head to toe before coming back to linger on your protruding stomach.
“Wow, congratulations. I didn’t think I would ever see you in that way.”
“Yes well, I didn’t think I would ever see you again. Sadly the universe loves to hate me these days.”
“So who is the lucky man.”
And there you have it, the million dollar question. The moment you were dreading. You have thought of this exact moment and how you would react. You often thought you would scream and hit him while telling him this is his child. Then another side of you thought of not saying anything. It seemed that your petty side was winning because you just stood there glaring at him not saying a word.
“I am, that’s my baby.”
Jonathan whom you forgot was there came up next to you putting an arm around your waist and holding you close to him.
“I see, I didn’t know you two were together. How far along are you? You seem just about ready to pop.”
“I don’t think that’s any of your business.”
Grabbing the crib sheets you set them own before turning and pulling Jonathan out of the store. This was not how you wanted your day to go. When you finally made it back to your apartment you waddled over to the couch and plopped down letting out a frustrated groan. Your back hurt, your legs hurt, and your feet as well. Add on the strong kicks from the baby and it was like everything was going to shit.
“I hope I didn’t overstep.”
“No it’s fine, but you didn’t have to do that.”
“I know I didn’t, but you were just standing there. Besides I have been trying to find the right way to bring this up and now is as better time as never.”
“Go ahead.”
“I was thinking, maybe I could relocate here and we could raise this baby together. That if you didn’t object I could claim the baby as mine. I already love him or her as mine, that baby owns my heart as does his/her momma.”
“I don’t know, I mean I am touched but don’t you think it would be hard? What if the baby looks like him?”
“It doesn’t matter to me. Either I can move here or you and the baby can move back to LA with me. Either way I want to be with you two. I love you Y/n.”
Jonathan pulled you to him before he placed his lips over yours. The kiss was sweet and passionate, it held the promise of a better future for you. That night it was decided that he would claim the baby as his own and unless needed Kiseok would never find out. The man had made his decision and had his own little family now. Jonathan would be moving to Korea permanently to continue his music career. Since the new apartment was more than big enough the two of you felt no need to find a new place.
Apparently, the universe wasn’t over with its sick joke. The day you went into labor just happened to be the same day Kiseok’s wife went into labor and you two were delivering at the same hospital. After hours of pushing and tears you finally held your beautiful baby girl in your arms. Jonathan looked down at the bundled up baby as if she hung the moon for him. You had no worries in your mind that he would go back on his decision to raise the baby as his own. The nurse took the baby to the nursery so that you could get some rest and when you finally woke up you decided to take a walk down there needing to stretch your legs. When you reached the nursery you looked through the window at all the new babies locating your little princess in the front row. You smiled in at your baby, not feeling anything negative for the first time since you found out you were expecting. A throat clearing beside you brought you to the present. Turning you saw the last person you wanted to see.
“Y/n, funny running into you here.”
“Funny wouldn’t be the word I would use.”
“Can we not fight please, it’s a special day for the both of us.”
“The wife finally have your baby.”
“She did.”
“Congratulations.”
“Thank you, we had a boy.”
“I see.”
“So what did you two have?”
“A girl.”
The two of you were interrupted by the nurses wheeling out your babies. You smiled walking up to your sleeping princess.
“She is beautiful, just like her mom.”
You rolled your eyes but thanked him, you didn’t want him anywhere near her. Wheeling your daughter back to your room you hoped this would be the last time you would ever run into him. You knew it was a stupid thing to hope for since the two of you lived in the same city. You knew you were bound to run into each other eventually.
The universe must have felt bad for putting you through this as it allowed you to have 5 years free of any Kiseok run ins. Karma was also rewarding you for all the hardships you went through thanks to Kiseok. Rumor was that his marriage was falling apart and that his wife was filing for a divorce and leaving him for a man with more money. You knew it was wrong to take enjoyment from his suffering but you felt you were entitled to this even if it was wrong.
Your daughter was currently running around the park as you sat down on the bench watching her. Jonathan was back in LA for work and wouldn’t be back for another week, to keep your daughter from being miserable with her daddy being gone you spent most of your free time doing whatever she wanted. You were laughing at your daughter skipping around in the sand with her dolly when someone sat down next to you. It was Kiseok.
“Hello Y/n.”
“What do you want Kiseok.”
“Can’t I just make pleasant talk with an old friend?”
“Maybe if said old friend wasn’t also an old lover and if you hadn’t cheated on said friend.”
“You can’t possibly still be upset about that.”
“I’m not, except for whenever I see your face.”
The two of you were interrupted by your daughter dancing her way up to you as she sang out mommy.
“She has a beautiful voice.”
“Thank you, she really loves to sing.”
Your daughter wanted you to hold her dolly so she wouldn’t lose it and after delivering her doll to you she ran back to the playground to play. You noticed Kiseok watching her closely, you knew what he was seeing. As much as you wanted her to not look anything like him, she resembled Kiseok in some ways.
“How far along were you when you had her?”
“It doesn’t matter.”
“It does matter, because unless you were cheating on me with him I doubt that little girl is his.”
“Again it doesn’t matter.”
“The hell is doesn’t, that little girl is mine isn’t she?”
“Kiseok don’t do this.”
“Don’t do what? Get upset that the two of you hid the fact that I was her father from me? The fact that little girl grew up not knowing who her father was?”
“Don’t even go there! That little girl has been growing up knowing exactly who her father is! Jonathan is her father and is amazing with her! You don’t get to come in with this attitude. You made your choice to cheat on me and leave me for another woman because I wasn’t fitting your timeline. You made that choice Kiseok not me. Had you waited this could have all been yours.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Marriage, a family. This could have been yours with me but you didn’t want to wait. I was coming to tell you that night about a promotion I had gotten at work. That I was finally ready to talk about marriage. If you had just waited a little bit longer we wouldn’t be where we are now. But you couldn’t wait and you did what you did. So don’t you dare come into our life and try and mess things up. How do you think the fans would take this news? Simon D cheats on girlfriend of 3 years leaving her pregnant to run off and marry the other woman. Sounds like an interesting headline to me.”
“That’s fucked up Y/n.”
“Life is fucked up. What you did is fucked up. The way you treated me is fucked up. This is just karma coming back to bite you in the ass. You made this choice so now you have to live with it. Live with knowing that you could have had all you wanted and more if you had just shown a little patience. I am going to continue living my life happily with a man who truly loves me and loves my daughter. Now if you excuse me.”
You stand leaving a silently crying Kiseok on the bench as you walk over to your daughter taking her hand and leading her out of the park. You left Kiseok there along with all the anger and pain you have carried with yourself over the years. Knowing he would have to live with that knowledge made your heart feel lighter, you finally had your closure knowing he would have to live watching another man raise his child. Walking up to your car you were happily surprised to see Jonathan standing there. Your daughter let go of your hand and ran to her father’s waiting arms. He swooped her up twirling her around before pulling you into a hug and giving you a kiss on your lips.
“How are my two girls?”
“Happy now that you are home.”
The three of you got into your car and drove off, in the rear view mirror you saw Kiseok standing there on the curb watching your car disappear. A small smile playing on your face, karma was truly a bitch.
