Okay so I know there’s a good headcanon on this site where some of the company are female because male and female dwarves look the same to outsiders “when they travel” according to Tolkien, but also consider: male dwarves taking up caregiving roles that are  traditionally female because there are so few female dwarves. Like they have no qualms about being tender and caring because so what? What is there to be ashamed of? Dwarrowdams do it and they’re awesome and rare so the boys want to do as good of a job.

So Dori is obviously very motherly and Bofur was described as the “mum” of the Ur family trio by some of the actors since he looks after Bombur and Bifur.

Ori is a pretty caring soul too though he’s still a tiny boi so maybe not yet, but when he’s older.
