There was a dysdera in my house yesterday, I caught him and released him, since they're one of my favourite breeds of spider
I shouldve left him alone

#1497 - Dysdera crocata - Woodlouse Spider
Spotted here in Western Australia by Rusti Gardener, which is peculiar because it isn’t known from here. It’s certainly known from parts of the eastern states, but having one show up here is new. There were originally native to the Mediterranean, but are now found across much of Eurasia, South Africa, parts of North and South America, and New Zealand.
They’re distinctive and fearsome-looking spiders up to 15mm long, with six eyes and overly large fangs, frequently found around houses, but their venom causes itchiness in humans at worst. Smaller animals are in trouble, however. The diet is mostly woodlice, since that’s the most common prey in their habitat, but they’ll attack anything else they encounter whilst hunting, including rival spiders and centipedes.

(Pholcus phalangioides)
* Araña cazadora roja
(Dysdera crocata)
* Araña común
(Tegenaria domestica)
* Araña de bolsa
(Cheiracanthium punctorium)
* Araña escupidora
(Scytodes thoracica)
* Araña falsa viuda negra
(Steatoda paykulliana)
* Araña lobo o tarántula mediterránea
(Lycosa tarentula)
* Araña reclusa parda mediterránea,
araña ermitaña del Mediterráneo,
araña parda o de rincón
(Loxosceles rufescens)
* Araña sangrienta o viuda negra europea
(Latrodectus tredecimguttatus)
* Latrodectus lilianae
* Oecubius cellariorum

Woodlouse spider (Dysdera crocata)
Living under a rock: a Woodlouse Hunter and a Rove Beetle (by Dendroica cerulea)
The beetle actually ran under the spider's legs without being eaten while I was photographing the spider.
Most Awkward Shower Ever?: A Shower with a Spider.
So while I was in the shower today, just a few minutes into it, I notices something crawling up the wall. It was a little adolescent dysdera spider, which are pretty harmless, but apparently hunt down black widows, so I didn't want to kill it (plus I don't like killing things besides flies and black widows and asshole spiders that won't let me catch them and release them outside.
(You've probably seen them around your house, too).
Anyways, the whole time I had to keep an eye on him and tried not to get him splashed too much, otherwise he'd fall and probably drown as he went down the drain, and after I got out and dressed I caught him and put him outside.
Juuuuust wanted the internet to know of that little story.
