absolute hatred for those feel-good news stories trying to say "there's more that unites us than divides us" and "remember that the person on the other side is also a human being". bitch I've BEEN remembering that the people on "the other side" are human beings, and I also recognize that many of those human beings want people like me DEAD. you can't reconcile that. yes, there are a lot of people who just have different opinions on the economy and funding for education and how much the government should manage certain things, and honestly that's okay. not great, but okay. but when other people's values include the dehumanizing of me and the taking away of my human rights, I no longer feel it's in my best interest to entertain those people's thoughts or words or existence. I do not want to engage with those people. and because I don't have a good way of knowing who on "the other side" is just somebody with differing opinions on the economy and who wants me fucking DEAD, it's not worth it. FUCK those stupid news stories. they never address that in the news stories.

From abroad, honestly the only thing that can help is donations because there are so many localities and villages that have been swept away, so many people are stranded and need medicines, shelter, food. Many crops have been completely destroyed. This is a long term situation, we will be dealing with the impact of these flash floods made worse by government negligence for a while.

 It was not so long ago that the Reset occurred.  People try to forget about it.  The government made forgetting about it policy.  The past is forbidden territory.

 Silas Conway is a historian, now not the most popular of professions.  He spends his time working multiple jobs, doing a little black market trading, solving a few murders and dodging the police. It’s not that he looks for trouble – mysteries just have a habit of falling onto his head or, in one memorable case, encouraging him to wade into the Thames.

 Despite his best efforts, he finds himself caught up in (to date): a grand treasure hunt, a murder investigation with him as the chief suspect and an art robbery.  And that’s not even counting the countless people trying to kill him for reasons best known to themselves, or even an old enemy watching from the shadows…

Genre: Dystopian Present, Mystery

POV: Third person limited

Themes: Forbidden territory, bending the law, burying the past
