Sir Jason Todd, Robin Class: Knight, the Crimson Helm

One thing I noticed going through the prequel comic was that Jason already had his white streak, which is usually indicative of him being put in the Lazarus pit. In the DKoS earth, the Lazarus River turned the dead into ‘failed abominations’ that are ‘dead already’, and look very different than living people, but also in this comic, Ra’s has brought a boy back from the dead with his own demonic power. So in my mind, the league of shades prefers mindless assassins whose lives have no consequence. But maybe there was once a little street kid that was no more than a body to experiment on. Somehow with demonic magic and the Lazarus river, Jason Todd was brought back, if only just a little more cursed than he was when he was brought there. It would also give him a personal reason to hate magic like Bruce does. Like how I think most of the robins do.
What’s interesting to me is how the robins seem split up into pairs, we’ve got the scouts (Dick and Duke), the spies (Cass and Tim), and the knights (Jason and Steph). So I wanted to lean into the knight thing for Jason, he has partial plate armor because he wants to be protected but also mobile enough to swing a giant sword around. He deserves an edgy sword and a gladiator inspired helm.
I love drawing swords and every Robin I draw will get one. What is that gemstone? Idk but it looks cool. I almost made it green which would’ve had fucked up implications seeing that he works under a half-kryptonian. I don’t actually think he’d be too antagonistic in this AU since the green man (joker/lex fusion with a green lantern ring) killed 3/5 of Bruce’s parents and if he killed Jason at first, it happened before he even met Bruce. Also the green man is probably dead.
I’m sorry I prefer Jason being a dark redhead I’m just so tired of drawing black hair. All of them have black hair except for Steph.
Steph and Jason are a duo I absolutely love, so they’re both knights. They’re so silly and I think they should be friendly rivals who both want to be the captain of the kings guard even though Bruce is more knight than king and thus leads his own guard. Those two get the most knight training that Bruce got from the Kings Bane. They’d love a good tournament.
Anyway, Steph becomes more of a General with training in diplomacy and negotiation, Jason is more of a wartime advisor, captain of the royal guard type. They both get dramatic cloaks and cool swords. They stay more stationary than the other robins and are by the Bat-Kings side more often than not.
Is he cursed from the Lazarus river or demon magic? Maybe, idk how though. Maybe he goes into an uncontrollable green tinted berserker rage and heals his injuries faster than a normal human could. This is the fantasy Middle Ages so he could just have ptsd and it would be considered an evil demon curse.
