While all of them are technically religious holidays, in my old world, that celebrate specific events in religious history, I prefer the more secular meanings behind them.  To me, Christmas is about being with family and celebrating traditions; Valentine’s Day is about love, friendship, and caring for others; and Easter is about celebrating the rebirth of nature, with the introduction of the spring season, emerging from the cold, dark days of winter.

Not one thing alone can represent a holiday properly, but it’s how they are taken together that makes the decorating of an event a success.  By having all of these different elements, such as Christmas trees, Santa Claus, Elves, Reindeer, hearts, balloons, paper valentines, and red roses, it turns each of the holidays from just another day to… an experience.  It’s that experience that people remember, that they cherish, and that gives the holidays meaning.
