Do you have anything to say on the The Hidden World Snotlout mischaracterization allegations?
I generally agree with them! Idk, I just can't see him literally saying "Who died and made you chief?" in the way that he did - and the whole thing with him and Valka is pretty damn weird. Like apparently it was meant to be him wanting attention and validation from her and not a romantic sort of thing....and it's like okay, I kinda see the vision and what they were going for......but what we're actually shown in the film is written so awkwardly/badly that like 95% of people (including myself before I looked into things) who haven't looked at behind the scenes stuff think he was trying to flirt with her or something lmao
Oh yeah and also not a fan of how he was portrayed as like, not knowing wtf he was doing/not really having an idea of how to properly work together with the other riders during certain scenes (like the dragon rescue opening), though that complaint isn't specific to just him. Another complaint I have that isn't really specific to just him is how he doesn't really react or say anything about having to separate from his dragon friend forever - he just gives Hookfang a sad look for a few seconds and that's it, bye buddy <3. What????
And like even if you don't take the TV series into consideration/consider the TV series as canon enough, I feel like most of this shit still doesn't make sense with the implied character growth, the background moments in the first two films and earlier shorts, etc. etc....so yeah. Can't say I'm a fan of THW Snotlout lol.
