Baby Witch in Search of Advice for Deity Searching

Hello there! I’ve been interested and semi-involved with witchy stuff since I was very young, but I never actually put any energy into a real practice until recently. I’m very new and have little to no resources minus a few crystals/rocks and a very dry stick of sage from several years ago. 

I’ve been very drawn to finding a deity ever since I began my journey on the magic path. It feels almost like a necessity to find my deity before I can begin casting spells other than my altar’s protection circle (which I still haven’t done because I recently had to move into a temporary place). I’m also really interested in the fae, nature/gardening, and using my energy to only put out good vibes. I’m not anti-hexxing but I don’t think it’s something I would ever do. I’m a huge sucker for the ~Magic of Friendship~ but I haven’t been able to find many gods/goddesses/deities/spirits that work exclusively or specifically with platonic love. I have spiritual connections with Norse and Celtic beliefs, but something has also been drawing me to Egyptian lately. I’m a primarily-fiction writer, if that also helps.

I share all this information with you in hopes that someone more experienced than myself might be able to point me in the right direction. I’ve been doing my research but it feels like I’m miles away from where I want to be. I don’t want to rush my learning experience but I also feel a bit stagnated in my newbie work. I’m ready to start the nitty gritty of praying each day and casting. 

If anyone has any tips/advice/answers, I am all ears!

YOUR ENERGETIC BODY AND YOU!

Alright, so I want to talk a little bit about the chakra system. In this post I'll only be talking about the western perspective, as it's much less complex. Really, there are hundreds of little energy centers in your body, but right now, let's just talk about the main energy vortexes.

There are seven chakra centers: The Root Chakra, The Sacral Chakra, The Solar Plexus Chakra, The Heart Chakra, The Throat Chakra, The Third Eye Chakra, and The Crown Chakra. Each one has it's own function physically in the body, and spiritually in the energetic body. Each one has potential to over or under produce, depending on what's happening with the others.

The Root Chakra:

This one is survival based. It's the foundation on which the rest are supported. If one has a weak root chakra, the rest are sure to be unstable as they are compensating for this one. The root grounds us to our bodies, to this physical reality. If someone has an unstable root chakra, they will not seem grounded. If the energy center is over compensating for the others then the person will seem aggressive. Really, this is our will to survive. It rules the adrenal glands, and governs our fight or flight instinct. The energy from this vortex is very animal in nature, it is food, water, safety.

To help build this energy center you must feel safe. Practicing self care, and taking care of your body are both essential to this vortex. If one is having issues with blockage here, grounding stones are a helpful tool to manipulate energy flow if you cannot. Tigers eye, black tourmaline, jet, obsidian, red jasper, essentially most black or red stones will have an effect on this center. I have found black tourmaline helps me personally for blockages, and jet helps for building. However our energetic bodies will be different, and I must remind you to experiment for yourself.

The Sacral Chakra:

This is the center of joy and pleasure in the body. If it is blocked then there will be depression, if it's over active there will be manias. Balance, my friends. The energy of this one is the enjoyment of life. This is also a very physical chakra. More without than within like the root chakra. It rules over sexuality, creativity, and physical activities like dancing and swimming. This is where our wonder comes from!

If this chakra is under functioning I recommend spending some time in nature appreciating its beauty, seeing yourself in it. I recommend looking at art, dancing, listening to or making music! Go to the beach, and play in the water. This chakra is ruled by water, and so finding a connection there is crucial. If it is over functioning, this is likely due to the sacral chakra under functioning, and so this one will try to compensate for it. You see someone who is insecure, and so they party a lot, or just concentrate wholly on pleasure of whatever kind; that's what this is. You can manipulate the energy of this chakra with golden orange stones, like amber or carnelian.

Solar Plexus Chakra(Damn tumblr why no yellow?):

This center rules over your sense of self, self worth, and self expression. If someone has a really strong solar plexus chakra then they're really confident, they know who they are and they're proud of themselves! They curate their lives and usually radiate confidence. Someone with an unstable solar plexus will want constant reassurance that doesn't seem to help them. They will seem uncertain in who they are.

To stimulate this chakra, you must come to know yourself. No one else can do that for you. This is a lesson you must learn. So to help stimulate this chakra, as always, I recommend stones. For me lemon quartz and sunstone work best, but you can experiment with different kinds of yellow stones.

Okay guys. Now this is where is starts getting a little complicated. Those were the physical chakras, all three of the above are what connect us to this physical state, they are essentially the human condition. Then there is the heart chakra, which connects body to spirit, and then there are three vortexes of the spirit.

The Heart Chakra:

This is the essence of universal love! Of which, I will tell you a grand secret: Humanity has yet to perfect the concept of love. It is difficult for us. We are only missing one piece though. That piece is empathy. When you hone your sense of empathy, brilliant, pure, unconditional love will come to you, and from you. It teaches us a lesson in connecting the physical to the etheric: we are all divine. Love yourself, and love others. Come to realize that there is nothing but love, that is the only emotion, every other emotion is just love in disguise. It is really no more complicated than that. You must come to trust the universe with your heart, after that, everything falls in line.

Usually the heart chakra isn't over active, usually it is blocked. In order to unblock it, you must exercise your trust, and empathy. It sounds simple, but it can be quite the journey. Be patient with yourself, and keep in mind that love has to be reinvented from how we think of it now.

I have found paridot and moldavite to be my favorite stones while working with this energy.

The Throat Chakra:

In essence the throat chakra should be very simple. It is the pure expression of ourselves. How do we sing our songs? If this chakra is under functioning the person may not express themselves as they need to, they may feel insecure in their expression. It is not often found to be over active, but if it was, the person might have a desperation in the way they communicate, they might talk as though their trying to leave their body. To open this chakra I recommend any kind of expression, from journaling, to writing music, or or making art with the purpose of expression.

You must learn your song, and sing it! Do not worry if others listen or not, the universe is listening.

The Third Eye or Brow Chakra:

This energy center rules or second sight, and psychic ability. Linked to the pineal gland. This is your passage into understanding, in both a physical sense, and a spiritual sense. This is true understanding in its purest state. Usually this chakra isn't quite an under or over actor, but it can happen sometimes. It will cause people an air of confusion or misunderstanding. Most of the time, the problem is that the chakra is inactive, and in this case spiritual clarity or psychic ability will not come. One must open up, using all of the below vortexes, especially trust! You have to trust the universe, and then you will come to understand it.

Many have found amethyst a good stone for this purpose, but my favorite is elestial quartz. And be curious, learn about the things you wonder at 4am on Tuesday nights! Learn astrology, talk to ghosts! All of it. The more you seek the more you are sought.

The Crown Chakra:

This is the last major chakra center, and the one that brings it all together. This is your connection to the divine, because, guess what my friend: you are divine! This is your point of transcendence, where you finally come into contact with your true and complete self. This one you have to work to open. You have to explore life's mysteries and discover for yourself what it all means!

For this I work with spirit quartz, but there are no real tools that will help you with this. The knowledge is already there, you just have to reach out and grab it. Just use your fully capable and beautiful mind.

In Conclusion:

Your energetic body, your aura, your soul, is made up of all of these different energies. This is essentially a head-shoulders-knees-and-toes anatomy lesion for the spirit. You are a wonderfully complex creature, and you need to take care of all your parts. Knowledge of how these parts function will teach us more about how we can interact with this world, as well as the world of spirit.

Quick Spell for Cleansing and Protection

Note: I used this in a deep cleaning of my office and bedroom, and it is helping me so much! Adds such positive energies.  I made this as an alternative to those gross synthetic carpet cleansers you vaccuum out of the carpets, since doing a floor wash is not an option for me!

Ingredients:  - Dill (for protection, especially in house blessings / cleansing) - Basil (for dispersion of fear and weakness.) - Thyme (attracts positive vibes, provides strength and courage) - Bay leaves (for protection) - Fern (for cleansing and mental clarity)  - Sea salt (cleansing)  - Garlic (for positivity) - Spearmint (for cleansing)

Not all of these are necessary by any means, I have access to a lot of fresh herbs and went a little crazy, but it’s working for me! 

Simply cleanse a mortal and pestle (I wiped it clean with water and a clean towel and then ground my sea salt first as a “witchy” cleanse) and grind all your ingredients together. I chose to vaccuum once beforehand, to get rid of all the dirt and negativity, and make space for my blessing, and then sprinkle it around the four walls, paying heavy attention to the corners! You can choose to vaccuum it up, or leave it in the carpet to have that fresh scent linger around a bit longer. (I did this yesterday afternoon, and it still smells *so* good.) 

I had a bit left after doing both rooms, so I put it in a little jar, tied it close with white twine and have it up on my desk since this is my most frequented space.

An Angry Love Poem

So I’ll try to keep it short and sweet. I’m having a lot of trouble finding others who have any interest in the paranormal or occult arts at all. I need a friend to discuss these things with. Pleasepleaseplease message me.

I’ve got a spirit who’s very very willing to communicate. We’re quite bonded, but we need another person who can sense him. He’s been living in our world since he died, and he told me that people have called on him before, but were unaware of his existance. I’m the first person who has called him, and been aware. I have been practicing listening to him often, and I’m picking up on his subtleties. He is good natured, and very gentle with channeling. I got to work with him on this over the last summer. He is very very in control of himself as well, he’s not a new spirit. He’s very witty and humorous as well. Anyway, he’s been telling me I need to reach out to others who do work with spirits. I think he has something specific in mind, though he won’t tell me. I’m sure when it happens I’ll understand.

And of course, I don’t expect you to do work for free, unless of course it is your moral code not to. But we can exchange services, I know astrology really well, and can analyze any kind of chart you wish, or do a tarot card reading for you. I always prefer to trade, not charge.

The best thing that could come out of this of course is another friend.

Shufflemancy: Having a conversation

So one thing I know for sure is that shufflemancy is a thing. I didn’t actually know this term until @bewitchhme told me about it the other day. I had found out before about it, simply because my companion Monsieur has always enjoyed communicating with me in this way. Since I was in high school he had been putting on particular songs to help me through whatever I needed.

Just yesterday, I was having a conversation with both Monsieur, and my friend Harper. And Monsieur reallyreallyreally doesn’t approve of Harper. They have been at odds since I discovered Monsieur was here with me. Monsieur is of the strong opinion that Harper’s no good for me, that he’ll stifle my practice, and fester a mistrust for my own spirituality. However, I believe it’s a matter of jealousy. Monsieur does tend to have problems with some of my friends, but just absolutely loves some as well.

Conflicts aside. I try to get the two to talk. Harper is aware of this uncertainty, and he tries. So we asked monsieur how he feels about Harper, and a Bruce Springsteen song came on called, Ain’t got you. Which makes sense, at least to me, because I feel my guides urge to be a living human again.

A little background: in life, monsieur was very lonesome. He craved companionship terribly. He feared being alone. But he was incredibly smart, and he wondered about many things we did not know back then. He found answers too! But he had no one to talk about it with, because this questions, these answers, were much too pagan. He couldn’t get away with speaking on it openly, or he would have been imprisoned for it. He had one friend, but the friend was not at all on his level, and it was not a two way conversation. He wrote often of being surrounded by beauty, but having no one to share it with. Eventually he became so frustrated with this, that it drove him to silence.

Now, after his life as a living person has ended. That same loneliness exists. He still craves the conversations about the things he got right, and the things he got wrong. He still craves the beauty. And most of all, he wants some living person to continue his work. He tried tirelessly to get others to pay attention to him. No one ever saw, or heard him. Until he began to persue me. With music. He’d make the most appropriate songs come on, and I would feel better about things. Eventually he put something he wrote in my mind, and the thing screamed for attention. It was so incredibly right that I wrote it everywhere. I still remember it to this day.

Eventually I did notice him. And that began an incredible relationship. We align perfectly in everyway. I can’t help but say I love him. And now that he’s come to find me here, he gets such a feeling of disdain. Because he will never touch me like humans can touch, or smell my skin as I walk by. Of course, he can live inside me like humans cannot. But I don’t believe it’s unnatural to miss the human experience. He craves a human relationship with me. Which is the source of his jealousy. He knows how fond Harper is of me, but he can’t love me through Harper. Because Harper’s a new soul, with very little skill of intuition, and no mediumship experience to speak of. He didn’t even think of such things existing before meeting me. Monsieur wants me to meet a conduit. Someone through which he can touch me, and speak with me, and have the human experience, just once more. So in this way, the song is right. He doesn’t have me. And he doesn’t have Harper either. Though he has a lot, he doesn’t have the one thing he wants most.

Harper then asked him how he was doing, how he was feeling. I myself felt monsieur startle. There was a strange peacefulness. Because he could tell that Harper was seriously genuine. He actually honestly did want to know how monsieur was doing. A song by Bob Dylan came on: Walkin’ Down the Line. Which basically says, he’s alright, things aren’t ideal, but he’s working with it, the best he can. The song tells about him and his worried mind, and a frustrating situation, but hey, what can you do? Life goes on. I personally love this response. If you don’t know the song, I encourage you to look it up. Though you won’t find Dylan’s version easily, it’s a folk song, and you will find some version.

Harper left shortly after that, and so I took the chance to ask him how he feels about Harper now. His response was another Bob Dylan song, called Mixed Up Confusion. I feel like this song was a good wrap up of the session. It recounts basically everything I said above on the way he feels, and tells about he’s not sure about Harper.

Harper’s just a young soul, and he’s not totally in control of his emotional output. So he doesn’t realize that he has to be entirely honest with his communications with spirits, because they can tell.
