I have this little diabolical headcanon for the end of the original film: After obtaining the evidence that he was the true creator of ENCOM'S games, Flynn agreed not to press charges against Dillinger if he agreed to turn over all his corporate shares to him. Making Kevin the new CEO.
Hmm, yes that sounds like a thing Flynn would do, and also sounds like it might help explain how he got into Dillinger's role so fast.
Especially funny if Dillinger falls for this, thinking that "Kevin not pressing charges for videogame plagiarism" is gonna save him from consequences for stuff like, "running a program that stole from multiple corporations and planned to attack the damn Pentagon" lmao

I feel oddly self-conscious about this, coming back to the Tron fandom after about a decade. But what are our Dillinger headcanons?
I've already discussed some of these with a few folks on this site, but here are some of mine:
Elisabeth had a wild phase in college in the 80s. (EDIT: I agree with others who have also speculated that Julian was possibly conceived out of wedlock and maybe even grew up without a dad. ) Elisabeth was super into The Human League back then, and Julian probably grew up hearing it a lot (and sometimes he still chants the lyrics to Empire State Human like a mantra while coding, when he is absolutely sure no one else is around.)
Elisabeth was a teen when her dad got exposed for stealing Kevin Flynn's ideas and went to prison for a while. This was deeply traumatic. Ed Jr was maybe in Kindergarten or the first grade, and it was even worse for him. (It's possible that this saga is just full of absent or non-existent fathers.)
Ed Jr. is dead or gone. No one really knows what actually happened except for Sam Flynn, and this is one reason why he and Quorra disappeared. There was no tangible evidence of foul play, but Julian Dillinger in particular blames Sam Flynn and Encom. (This would have been the events of Tron: Ascension, which we unfortunately didn't get.) It's possible that Ed Jr. had kids who were also deprived of their father as a result of this.
Ed Jr. was Sark for a while until The Event happened which caused his disappearance, and he left it for Julian with instructions to Break Glass If Needed.
Sark is a virus that inhabits the Dillingers as hosts.
The fact that Athena was piloting a Recognizer (from the game Space Paranoids, by Kevin Flynn?) may mean that there is still some theft of Encom ideas or properties going on. Julian feels entitled to all of it. The Dillinger Grid itself may be copied from some of Flynn's code.
Julian's tattoos are maybe foreshadowing, or an indicator of his destiny to become another host for Sark, but he was planning on setting himself up as a Literal God of both Grids eventually, once he took over Encom completely.
These are just my headcanons or theories, and I'm interested in hearing other peoples'. I might write fic based on some of this.
