Summary: Upon killing a one-hundredth soul with the Dark Arts, in the same spot, Ekrizdis creates the very first Dementor.
«I will see not to disturb you, Your Eminence. You see, unlike me my siblings had the opportunity to receive an appropriate instruction in Latin at their schools and two of them were thoughtful enough to catch it for my sake, so for texts I can't handle myself, I can count on them... At least to a point» she sighed, but there was a hint of pride in her voice. «The translation of Magical books brings up unique challenges, even more when done by Muggles. But we make it work.
We captured the Lethifold during our expedition in Azkaban, the summer before our fifth year. It took around three months for me to be able to handle it alone with only one Patronus, and five more to handle it without a Patronus. Of course, to this day injuries still occur. It's a work in progress. However, by last summer it was tame enough that I could bring it home. It was surprisingly mellow with my family, way more than it has ever been with my friends. Which is astonishing - I can't wait to be of age to introduce them to the Dementor. That... That will be an experience,» she drifted of in her thoughts for a moment, before catching herself.
«It never tried to escape. The Room was shaped to be pleasant to it, so it had no reason to - however it did try to ambush us more than once. There were injuries.
I can't say how often it has to eat. I never pushed it. My priority has been to keep it as satisfied and well fed as I could. It's a matter of safety, and I think that with... with everything I do I am already pushing my luck enough. Wild Lethifolds don't seem to eat that often but when they do they eat large preys like cows or humans, but mine I always few less but every two or three days. Maximum a week. Of course, as an occasional predator, it will eat everything that comes to it, no matter how full it already is.
...Forgive me, Your Eminence. But earlier you said that for Ekrizdis to have died it means that his hypothetical Horcrux must have been destroyed. Now you mention the possibility of dying with a Horcrux still intact. What is... the exact role of a Horcrux, then? What would happen to a person who got mortally wounded, but with a Horcrux still intact? Let's say... Beheading, that is beyond repair and survival. Would the Horcrux force them to exist in that unusable body, a sentient head unable to move or do anything on its own? Or would it somehow provide another body or repair the previous one? For some reason I doubt it would. No type of magic can be this convenient, and Dark Arts have their own way of making you think twice about what you wish for. What are we really talking about when we mention "immortality"?»

Most fascinating. And your trust in your siblings - that, too is interesting. They are muggles, you should have no reason to trust them, and yet... Do you think it wise, to trust them?
Ah, horcruxes. It is rather more complicated than just regeneration, yes. You must know the story of my own death, no? That whole - Harry Potter business. My killing curse rebounded and struck me - I do not know what became of my original body. All I remember is pain. I was separated from my body existed in a ethereal, disembodied form. Not a ghost, no, I was... a wisp. My horcrux - because I did have one - kept me alive, but it became very apparent that it would not provide me another body.
My current body was generated with the help of a loyal follower and some additional dark magic I would have been unable to perform myself.
There...could be a possibility, then, that Ekrizdis - as he seemed very solitary - did not have this assistance available to him. In which case, should he have been killed...his very essence may very well be present in some form in the fortress of Azkaban. He would have to possess bodies from time to time - in my in-between state, I possessed the bodies of snakes, of men - but he could very well be present.
If this is the case...I would be loathe to see what he had become, after all of these years. I was trapped in wisp form for thirteen years. It...was difficult. Hm. I suppose to be frank - difficult would be understating the matter. For him to have been trapped in that existence for... *the dark Lord shuddered at the very thought, unable to even continue*
Favorite type of fic to write? Weirdest Naruto HCs? HCs that don't actually make it into fic but it's part of your worldbuilding?
Honestly, my favorite type of fic to write is a fluffy fix-it, smut optional, usually involving a niche rare pair or ot3, because I am forever cursed with the love of pairings that will never be commonly embraced (and I promise that is not said as something meant to make me stand out from anyone, it just means I am doomed to have to make content for myself *cries*). Sometimes I do love a little painful dip into the angst pool, but it usually still ends in fluff to round it out.
I don’t know if I have any really weird headcanons for Naruto-verse, but I do have a whole cast of OCs and a full background for Orochimaru’s clan in Rice Paddy country, as well as clan creation myth for the Kato, all of which are part of my worldbuilding but don’t necessarily come up openly. Some of Oro’s more detailed clan info may show up more fully in the future of my main verse - I’ve wrestled with whether or not to compile a headcanon post or save it until it shows up in fic. An eternal struggle.
Thank you for the ask, dear!

“You don’t care if I never wake up.” “Sure I do.” “Why?” “Well because then I’d have to start taking out girls who actually like me.” “Like you could find one.” “Oh see, that there! Who needs affection when I have blind hatred?” (x.)

16: What would your characters be for Halloween?
Good question, let’s see…Kal, I’m 97% cosplays, so she’d always go super extra, and cosplay superheroes.Ardis probably doesn’t do much, just half-dresses up by wearing halloween-y colorsJules definitely just finds the most extravagant thing she can afford and shows off
kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat you're amazing but whhhhhyyyyy?!
Well how else was I supposed to end it?
She listened in absolute silence, careful not to do anything to interrupt his... explanation? steam of thoughts?
The Dark Lord had created at least two Horcruxes. One of which had been destroyed. The second, the one who was very much not a diary and very much intact - her lips twitched up in amusement at that - could also be interacted with. Somehow. Just like Ekrizdis who still existed in... in two pieces.
A couple of possibilities jumped in her mind, but... "Would you mind letting me conduct a couple of tests?" was not something wise to ask. "If I gave you my brother's equipment..." sounded no better.
But at least this put the list straight. I need to talk to my siblings. To my friends. And to Decadence.
She watched the Dark Lord drifting off, lost in his thoughts. Again, while musing on the condition of being a bodyless wisp. The years of exile - from England, from life itself - seemed to have left a mark in the man. She tried to think of something to say, but nothing came to her mind. So she remained quiet, absent-mindedly caressing the dark skin of the Lethifold as seconds stretched into minutes.
A sound in the fire made the Dark Lord flinch, his attention returning abruptly onto her.
«I was thinking,» she said quietly, as if the long pause had never happened, «that I need to focus on Decadence - the Dementor - and hear what it has to say before making any other decision. And I was wondering if...» she hesitated. «If I could find some trace of Ekrizdis in the testimonies of those who survived Azkaban. Something they didn't think of at the moment, maybe something they thought was a product of their mind, or something weird in the actions or words of a dying inmate... Something that, looked under this new light could shed some insight on whether Ekrizdis is active in the prison or not, now that we know what to look for.»
"I was wondering if you could ask your followers". But she was not going to try and give the Dark Lord homeworks. She was only going to hope he would catch her implicit hope.

“You named it?” Voldemort asked, amused. He had never considered naming a dementor. The idea of dementors with names was...interestingly new to him. But why? Most other creatures are given names, whether by humans or within their own species. Serpents had names, of a sort. Why not dementors?
Some traces, some hint of his presence. Yes. Voldemort realized then how next to useless he was - he had never stepped foot in Azkaban. He had led the rescue mission of his imprisoned followers, back in oh, 1996 - but he had never actually touched the fortress. And had never sought a reason to go back.
“Bella would know,” he said softly, frowning. But would he ask her? It was not a topic she tended to bring up - and one she shut down, if asked. “Or Rod, yes, better I ask some of the others, first...Lucius, he was not there terribly long, he might be useless, but I could see...” He could look into their minds if need be. Perhaps he could peek in Bella’s as she slept. She would never know.
“Certainly,” he said. “Give me a day or two. If Ekrizdis is indeed trapped in the fortress, I would assume at least one of my followers encountered him to some degree.” He smirked. “They tended to end up there often. And to think, what was once an annoyance may turn out to be useful, in the end.”
