As the siren sounds across Israel on Yom HaZikaron, Israel’s Memorial Day, the nation comes to a standstill, united in silence and remembrance of the 30,961 fallen Israeli security forces and victims of terror.

Even in the skies, aboard an El Al flight, passengers pause together for the two-minute siren, honoring the lives lost.

May their memories forever be a blessing. 🕯️

In JFK airport there’s a woman named Alec that helps board the ElAl flights to Israel. She calls all the men (mostly chassidic) “adoni” and wears a picture of the Rebbe on her uniform. I asked her if I can give her a hug. She said sure. We hugged and I reminded myself that there are plenty of people out there who love the Jews. Plenty of people who know very well that we represent values, morals, ideals and love.  There are plenty of people who remember all that we have done and continue to do for the world and for mankind.  I am not naive enough to think that things today are okay, and that we should accept the slurs and attacks around us, but I am also not naive enough to focus only on those who hate us. Thank you Alec for the reminder.
