Googling "US election" and seeing the results so far like
It’s looking like the city flipped three republican seats and kept our progressive dem mayor who reads like a cartoon mayor, but is doing his best to turn this mess of a harbor town that has nearly been burnt down twice…into a decent place to come visit
in light of recent events, if you voted red in the US election you are not welcome here and my content is not for you. full stop. i do not need nor want the support of racists / facists. go fuck yourself.
It says a lot that the last time I sobbed and this time I just feel a burning hollow anger
Im not even american but im genuinely terrified
Apparently, when we visited Aunt Crimes this time last year, I said something like, "yeah Trump's going to win next year unless someone kills him or something." She remembered this and scolded me for it today. Me: "I'm sorry! I didn't WANT to be right." Her: *grumpy noise* "Well. Maybe he'll die."
The sad thing I am dealing with irt the election is that I actually liked Kamala Harris. Like sorry I know people are mad and hate her but I liked her the first time she ran for the democratic nomination, I felt like she was our best shot? I felt like she appealed to a lot of people? Smart and capable?
But my fear was that like I truly think the country too self centered, too sexist and racist to elect her, like I don’t think anyone but an old white guy even has a shot at this point
Yes I know Obama is black and we elected him but the country has objectively gotten worse, more ignorant and bigoted, than it was then, and I’m one person and I can’t fix that
i know there's a large influx of people posting opinions & emotions over the election but i keep this a pretty safe space from real world issues. just please, i want you all to know that i'm here for anyone who needs a friend, support, or just a safe space to speak. as someone who doesn't live in america i can't begin to imagine the fear and worry this brings people, and it’s easy to feel alone in it all. please remember you don’t have to go through any of it alone.
