helloooo im super curious about girl gangs of hawkins and robin decks jonathan??? 👀
i fear this may be disappointing but girl gangs of hawkins is in fact my doc for thriving in the apocalypse. i named it that a million years ago bc it was initially going to be a more focused exploration on all the women of stranger things post-s4. and like that's still pretty much the case but it did expand to include more stobin and more will and robin than i initially planned
anyway there are approximately 95k words of this wip currently up on ao3 but there are also parts still waiting to be written, like this lil bit of outline from a section titled 'Karen Wheeler begins to suspect'
The front door opens, catching Karen by surprise. She hears shuffling, then Mike’s mumbled voice.
“I’m not letting you sleep on the basement couch tonight, Mike,” comes Nancy’s voice. Stern, but not unkind. She hasn’t spoken to Mike like that since they were little, and Karen was too busy taking care of a newborn Holly, Nancy stepped up to play mom for her little brother. “And I’m sure as shit not going to haul you up two flights of stairs.”
That sounded more like the Nancy she knew. Still, sirens were already going off in her head. She wiped her hands on the kitchen towel, placed it back on the hook above the sink, and made her way toward the entryway.((why is she up? nightmares maybe, or maybe just can’t sleep and she remembers a friend of her daughter’s telling her that tea helps))
(and basically mike is barely on his feet, leaning heavily on nancy, whose hair is tousled, a bruise on her cheek, her keys hooked around a finger so she can have both hands supporting mike. And they don’t see her yet, mostly because as soon as they’re in view mike collapses, and all of nancy’s attention is on him. She moves quickly, instinctive, her arm going up around his shoulders while she turns toward him, bending her knees to move with him. Her other arm catches his waist before her fully falls, and after a moment, a small grunt of effort, she manages to switch her grip to the backs of his knees and pick him up.
Karen can only stare. For a moment she sees herself, picking up a fast-asleep mike out of the backseat of the car. He was getting too tall for this, even then. Now, it’s almost comical, his gangly limbs dangling out of nancy’s arms. But she sets her jaw and holds him steady.
Finally, she sees her mom.
and robin decks jonathan came from me finishing one way or another and really reallyyyyyy wanting robin to deck jonathan!

Robin leans back in her chair again. “Front door’s unlocked.”
“That’s dangerous, Robin.”
And now Robin frowns at her, eyes flashing. Mad again. Nancy turns away and does her best to head for the front door without feeling like she’s retreating.
Mr. and Mrs. Buckley are curled up together in the living room, and they both smile and wave at her as she comes in. She waves back and hurries up the stairs to Robin’s room, closing the door behind her when she gets there.
Robin has shifted in the time it took Nancy to walk through her house. Her knees are at her chest, her hands covering them, her chin resting on her bony knuckles. Nancy crosses to the window and slides out, careful not to hit the bag on her back, or the pack of Bartles & Jaymes within it.
So maybe she wound up outside the Buckley residence on purpose. Sue her.
She sits herself down beside Robin and unzips the bag. “You driving anywhere tonight?”
Robin snorts and tilts her head to look at her. Nancy pulls the wine coolers out enough for her to see.
“Figured we deserved a do-over, after everything.”
“Something tells me you didn’t swipe those from Ted Wheeler’s refrigerator.”
“No. I won’t subject you to that again.”
“How very thoughtful of you.” Robin takes a bottle from her with a grin, no anger in sight.
tbh i'm not sure i'll pick this up again, bc i've got other stuff i'm more excited about and this specific itch was very much satisfied by @lavenderstobins writing her version of this idea: and if the lights are all down (very much spoilers if you're still reading lol)
