Also hey all we're a mid-level show with less than minimum wage and creators who can't pay their rent <3 Welcome to audio drama!
Do you love 90s rock, queer found family, ghosts, and also fiction podcasts? Well, do we have a show for you!
From the creator of The Bright Sessions comes a thrilling new original rock audio drama. Phantom Pulse is the story of a 90s rock band going out on their very first tour. But this band isn't like any other–they don’t just play music, they exorcise ghosts with it.
Phantom Pulse is currently crowdfunding for their first season. You can give to the Kickstarter now and get exclusive, limited edition merch, early access to the show, and much more.
The five band members are being played by truly incredible actors: Nicholas Podany, Erika Ishii, Briggon Snow, Juliana Gutiérrez Arango, and Erin Caesar. And the creative team is made up of audio drama veterans: Lauren Shippen, Ella Watts, Evan Cunningham, and Brandon Grugle.
If you believe in original, queer art that is earnest and inclusive, but also messy and dramatic, please consider giving to our Kickstarter!!!
and if you can't support monetarily, please reblog THIS post and help us hit our community goals!!
We Are Running A Live Actual Play!
Next week sees the crowdfunding launch of The Deepest Dark! A new horror TTRPG zine from Ella Watts (Camlann, The Tower) and Georgia Cook (The Holmwood Foundation) that I'll also be making a soundtrack for!
The Deepest Dark is a GM-less, tragic horror TTRPG about dying in a cave-in and, to celebrate the launch of the crowdfunder, we're going to be running an actual play of the game live on the Tin Can Audio Twitch channel next week on Monday 2nd and Wednesday 4th February, 8pm UK/3pm Eastern.
Ella will be joined on stream by special guests Nathan Blades, Poorna M, Wren and Georgia Cook
Ella and our delightful guests will be playing The Deepest Dark with live sound design from myself, using as many noise boxes and weird tape sounds I can squeeze into a couple of hours.
Be sure to sign up to the Deepest Dark Backerkit page to be notified when the crowdfunder is live and get your limited edition perks right away, and be sure to catch myself, Ella, and our incredible special guests next week for our first ever actual play stream!
WE DID IT 🎉🎉🎉
Beck's End is now FULLY FUNDED on Kickstarter!
This means many things: most importantly it means that we get to bring this wonderfully weird and unsettling village to life and share it with you! It means that you will get to enjoy every last bit of it, and if you're a supporter, you get to know that you helped make it all possible – if you're at £15 or higher you get the episodes early and without ads, even. Furthermore, it means that anyone who backs from here on out can know that they're guaranteed the rewards they want, including a surprise add-on that'll become available later today 👀
And if you've been considering supporting us, please take this as your formal invitation to join the party! We have great reward tiers, fun add-ons, and exciting stretch goals including a stylised prequel episode directed by Ella Watts herself 💚
Thank you all so much for the support, for the reblogs and the tags and the enthusiasm to tell us that yes, this is something you want made. No words can express how much this means to everyone involved.
The road to hell is a babbling brook... and now, the flood is inevitable.
Meet the season 2 writers' room
I've been building the writers' room for season 2 of I Need A Miracle ever since season 1 concluded. On 24 August, crowdfunding starts to get the whole team paid – so let's get to know the people whose pockets I'm asking you to pad!
Ella Watts
Ella is a queer director, writer and producer, best known for her podcasts @camlannpod, Doctor Who: Redacted and Eliza: A Robot Story. Ella directed on @re-dracula and Re: Carmilla, as well as season 3 of The Strange Case of Starship Iris. She also cast and directed The Beekeeper's Picnic, and was Head of Production for Zombies, Run! Ella is a passionate advocate for the queer community and audio fiction.
I love Ella's work. It was such a huge compliment when I found out she was a fan of I Need A Miracle, and an even bigger one when she said she was up for being part of season 2!
If, by your benevolence, we hit our initial crowdfunding goal, Ella will be our story consultant – reviewing the writers' script ideas, suggesting possible connections and ripples between them, and sketching out an arc for the season.
And if, by your benevolence, we push through a couple of stretch goals, Ella will also get to write an episode of her own!
The campaign goes live on 24 August on crowdfunder.co.uk. Don't miss it: follow @inyourbenevolence and @merelymatt, and join the Foggy Outline mailing list.
If we get 8 more fanworks, I'm reading my real life teenage fanfiction live on stream
I wrote it when I was 16. It's Eleven/Amy Doctor Who fic. I will do it to get this show funded.
Your fanworks do not have to be good or fancy. They can be stick figures. They can be memes. They can be closet cosplays. Just tell the world about our gay little show and that it has just 16 hours to fund
Phantom Pulse - tell your friends! We're less than £1,000 from making our goal!
"a cathartically furious, funny, fast-talking shout at the state of the modern world...a brilliant and surprising turn for Atypical" - hear what Ella Watts, writer and director of the brilliant @camlannpod, is talking about by listening to the first two episodes of Two Thousand and Late now!
An audio drama podcast about the power of stories and storytelling, identity, hope and other people.
My next Audio Fiction I Love article is out!
@camlannpod by Ella Watts and @tincanaudio has been one of the most exciting shows to premiere in 2024, and I certainly hope we'll be getting more. It's a beautiful story with stellar acting and distinctive sound design and music that has made me weep and shout several times over.
Here's the description:
One day, every apocalypse happened at once. Follow three survivors and their dog as they try to understand what happened to the world, and build a home from the ashes. Camlann is a post-apocalyptic fantasy series about the necessity of hope for survival. Dai, Morgan, Perry and their noble wolfhound Gelert venture out into the Welsh countryside to escape the devastation that hordes of folkloric monsters have wrought among the cities. Not to mention the "Knights of the Round Table", a former university rugby team turned maniacal feudal lordship on the hunt for their Sir Peredur, and the witch Morgan Le Fay.
