So, um, today is my birthday—30 to be exact—and I’m having so many mixed feelings. It’s like a rollercoaster. Due to various not-so-pleasant life experiences, I feel like I lost so many years and a bit of my childhood, so I definitely don’t feel my age.
I was definitely that “acting too old for her age” kid, turned into a very childlike adult. And it’s something I’ve struggled with. But lately (not gonna lie, with the help of my fiancé), I’ve started to embrace that childlikeness in me. In a way, it’s been really healing, like returning to things I used to enjoy when I was younger, which includes writing and sharing fics as well.
Life is still shitty sometimes, for sure, but I’m finally able to experience peace sometimes. At the same time, all the expectations about being an adult, especially as a woman, have been messing with my head. Like how I should look, act, or where I should be in my career.
I am still an awkward nerd with mental issues, and I’m not exactly proud of where my career is at. But I also know things are better than they used to be, and I’m trying to learn how to be more grateful and build confidence from within instead of relying on outside stuff.
Not even sure why I’m sharing this, but I do like to yap. It’s a nice outlet, so it is what it is. Concerning this blog, I love that I found joy in writing and sharing. I missed it.
So yeah, here’s to me, I guess, and here’s to still being able to find joy in silly little hobbies even as you age.
