Spoilers about the whole grayson thing.

The one thing I appreciate about the whole grayson-emily kiss is how different grayson is with other girls that are not lyra, even with Emily before dying.

When Nora in the books describes just kissing Grayson, Lyra says that if grayson had kissed Nora the way he kissed her she wouldn't really describe it as just a kiss.

Then, when Emily asks him to kiss her, she says "kiss me like you mean it," but after that instead of looking so smug, like she would, she looks shocked and angry.

My bet is that Emily had never been kissed by grayson like that before, and they have done even more than just kissing, so it must have been a shock for her. This is why after that she asks him if he was pretending she was lyra, and when she gets his answer she gets even more angry because she never got that from him and lyra did.

What I understood from all of this is that grayson has always been a character that has restrained himself in so many things, even in possible relationships.

Emily always tried to make Grayson lose control, and maybe she did that, but in this scene she realises that she never fully accomplished it because when he kissed her like lyra it was completely different to what it had been for her. It meant that he gave lyra willingly what she had to force him to give her. Lyra got the Grayson she wanted, and she hated that.

I feel like this scenes tried to explain that in the first trilogy and before, grayson had never let himself lose his self-control, but when it comes to lyra (even in the first book), he was never really able to fully restrain himself.

This is one of the hundred proofs that tgg and gr have. He spent most of those books touching her face, holding her hand, looking at her with puppy eyes, getting close to her even when he had said he was not going to get close to her. He was like that with her since the beginning when he didn't even know her. Of course the fact that lyra had this version of grayson is related to the fact that he is healing, but part of me thinks that it is just because he found the right person, and he knew that.

Things that should have happened in TGB:

EVE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A POV INSTEAD OF JAMESON. I love her and I wish we got more of her. She is the more nuanced and complex character in the series. Her talking about Grayson using her, her relationship with Mattias and his mother and Toby would have been so good to read about. At least I think so.

Avery should have saved herself and the kidnapping should have wrapped up within 10 chapters

A reveal on Mattias's father's criminal record and the 14 terrible things he has done. What was the point of emphasising that in GR if it was never addressed again?

Acacia finding out about Sheffield and a public reveal on what actually happened to him. If they can announce that Toby is dead why can't they do the same with Sheffield?

Jameson and Grayson having a proper conversation on that happened on Hawthorne Island. I get that Jameson acknowledged that his brother and Lyra were not completely in the wrong but that needs to be said verbally. Jameson's actions get excused way too much.

Darby should have been Lyra's biological mother. The whole plot line with Katalin being Lyra's mom was do dumb and unnecessary.

Tomas should have been dead. If alive he should have been a better person. Him being nothing more than a dead beat is very cliche considering that's how every dad in this series is (except Isaiah). He should have gotten an arc where he was a good man who made a series of bad decisions leading to a bad outcome. Lyra deserved a better reveal than her father just randomly talking to her over FaceTime.

Odette's relationship with Tobias. This is one of the main reasons why I continued the series, I needed to know what actually went down between these two and we never really found out. Her and Alice interacting would have been so interesting to read about.

Lyra should have used her street smarts to escape Hawthorne house, that would have been so epic. And it would have humbled Nash for thinking their security was top notch.

Grayson should have crashed out at his family for their selfishness

Lyra should have crashed out at Jameson for the way he was treating her

Lyra should have punched Jameson in the face. WHY ARE ONLY THE MEN ALLOWED TO THROW PUNCHES IN THIS SERIES???

Savannah and Grayson should have had a proper conversation on the whole Sheffield situation. We should have seen Savannah actually grieve her father, as trashy as he was.

Lyra, Eve and Nora in one room and Grayson walks in and gets incredibly uncomfortable, and Eve teases him for squirming.

Emily should have stayed dead.

The story was too crowded by the number of characters there, it should have only been the ones introduced in the beginning of TGG.

Eve should have shot Toby. As a feminist I support women's rights and wrongs.

Grayson's love confession should have been a proper love declaration. A simple "I love you" is not who Grayson is, the man is a poet we should have gotten something straight out of a 1800s romantic novel from him. I can't believe I am typing this but Jameson's love confession to Avery was better than Grayson's.

Unpopular opinion

I really am a big fan of this Nora girl. She was a very unique character herself. She was brave, independent, traumatic and pretty much an absolute Asian diva. I really liked her dynamic with the bayou gang especially Rohan. You know when they both were on their last breaths but they kept calling out for each other. I never thought I would like the Harvard girl this much but she turned out to be much more than a just a kiss. Then there was chapter 61, the way she breaked the security then called out on Oren and then she went with "We both know I’m far more dangerous than I look, but by my count, there are no fewer than eight trained fighters in this room." That was so damn smooth. She may be my one of the fav characters from this book.

I love how the book made it clear that she was never meant to the one for Grayson [a certain someone from pinterest might be burning in hell right now, not that I care] its funny how the book has almost half a dozen ex/possible love interests for Gray but then it was always going to be Lyra for him, and she was never the jealous one. It shows how perfect they are for each other. Another unpopular opinion, Since Emily was well alive, we could atleast had one face to face with Lyra and Emily. I mean who doesn't want to see Emily getting burned or better yet microwaved on page.
