When it comes to scenes that not only made me viscerally cry when I first read them but still make me teary eyed whenever I revisit them, the first scene that always immediately comes to mind is the opening of Chapter 234 of the Naruto manga.

After having spent the previous chapters witnessing Naruto pouring all of his heart & dedication into preventing Sasuke from joining Orochimaru, fighting his friend in an emotionally intense battle, to then learn that Naruto not only lost that fight, but to also have Kakashi arrive on the rainy battlefield too late to find a beaten & unconscious Naruto next to Sasuke’s scarred headband? It devastates me every time I re-read these pages!

I wonder what the tea tasted like. Was it something like ambrosia from pjo? Did it taste like home?
