THE STATES OF AMERICA
When I first wrote this, I spoke about many of the events that happened in some detail and how I personally felt about them. For some reason it wouldn't let me post. I think the universe wanted me to think about this again and come back. So that is what I am doing, hence why I'm a day late and not a dollar short.
There is so much violence in this country. So much strife. So much anger, division, mockery, finger pointing, etc, etc. I have always been a big believer in people don't really think about the troubles other go through until it happens to them. In other words, people don't look at other peoples struggles and feel empathy and love, but like to finger point and make fun on.
Maybe the reason why this happens is we are living in a traumatized state. We definitely have been desensitized. The fact that an assassination took place and it was uploaded to whatever social platform and that was allowed is really making me question humanity and where we are at.
Violence used to be reserved for movies. Now life has imitated art and I am sure many will blame art for putting these ideas in peoples heads. The truth is, there is too much happening to people all the time.
I just saw the movie Weapons which in my opinion is movie of the year. Yes it's violent but one of the things I loved about it is that you saw everyone's point of view about the story that was being told. The reason I bring this up is the director said a movie back in the early 2000s called Magnolia inspired him. Now while Weapons is a horror movie with a arguably fantasy element, Magnolia deals with real shit. You see shifts in every character before the movie is over with, and you truly get to know all of these people on a deeper level. It really touched me.
So I ask, can we find ways to see the beauty in everything and everyone? Social media and cable news have found a way to take our attention off the present, and move us to a point of spontaneous combustion. So many people out there are stressed and scared. It's easier for the forces of evil to work when the people don't know what to do.
One thing we can do it rely on a breath and follow it. Remember when you have your breath you have life. For me I will use every inch, every breath, every step to be better than I was yesterday. I will try to inspire others to do the same talking about my story. How I have fallen over and over again. I have hurt many people close to me. I have destroyed many castles that I have built due to sabotage. Yet, i will walk on and keep learning lessons and shooting for the stars. I share my stories here not for sympathy but for relatability.
I want people to know that you are not alone. Many of us are anxious. Many of us are angry. Many of us are bewildered how did we get here. However we must remember that ultimately violence doesn't care about your ethnicity. Violence doesn't care about your bank account. Violence doesn't care about your chromosomes. Violence is violence and fatal violence such as gun shots, knives, are final. Once a life is gone, it will never come back. I am not here for a 2A argument, but why are glorifying something that does nothing but take lives. You don't need a gun to put a hole in the wall. May I suggest a drill.
So the best thing we can do is our best everyday. It may look different as it states in the four agreements, but if you can do it, maybe people will follow you and do it themselves. Next thing you know you have so many people caring about their brothers and sisters in the world because at the end of the day, there is one thing we all have that is the same and it can't be changed or taken away.
We are all human and all bleed red.
Love first. Love always.
Namaste
