Stanton determined to play through pain, even though he 'can't open a bottle'
Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton missed the first two-plus months of last season due to tennis elbow (epicondylitis) in both arms
Giancarlo Stanton is my favorite Yankee of all time!! I love that man!!! ❤️ I'm very happy that he played well today in his first spring training game, but I'm very worried about his elbows. He can't even open a bag of chips. Yet somehow he managed to hit a ball over 114mph, today!! It's incredible!! He reminds me of the Iron Horse, Lou Gehrig. They both tough it out, and they both are phenomenal athletes. They both play through extreme pain and somehow, despite their physical ailments, they put up amazing numbers!!! They inspire their teammates and people of all ages, everywhere!! They are both incredible men!!! It's mind boggling to look at the strength and muscles in Giancarlo's arms and realize that he can't open a bottle of water or a bag of chips with them.💪💪 I hope that he finds relief and his elbows heal and feel better. I'm very happy that he's planning on getting 30-35 at bats before opening day and he's planning on being in the starting lineup on opening day, but I don't want to see him hurt himself. He needs to be in that lineup to be happy. I get that. I need him to be in that lineup to be happy, too!!😁🤣🥳❤️ But most importantly, he needs to get better. It's quite a conundrum, isn't it? All I know is that despite the fact that he was in much worse shape physically last year, after his first game in June of 2025, he put up some incredible numbers and he did very, very well. I don't know how he does it, but I'm very happy that he does, for him and for me. 😁 We both need him to be in the lineup because it means so much to both of us!!! Giancarlo Stanton is one is the greatest power hitters ever to have graced a baseball field!! And he's a charming and kind man, too. He's got it all!! I can't wait to see him play!! He'll be in the lineup on Thursday so I'm gonna make sure to take time away from unpacking to watch that game...
