A conversation between Athena and Annabeth

“Hm?” Of course she did, why wouldn’t Athena look at her own?

“You never look in our eyes, specifically”

“Why.”

Athena turns to Annabeth her eyes steadying on the ring of her necklace. Traveling up to the curls of her locks, to the full of her cheeks, then finally to the grey of her eyes

“It’s hard to look at my eyes.” Athena brushes the curls away from Annabeth’s face to fully see her.

“You’ve been seeking them out lately.”

“I pretend they’re my mother’s, rather than mine. I want to love them before I lose you again.”
