Rogue #4
preview pages for rogue (2026) by luigi zagaria (x)
MARVEL: From Mystique to Gambit, Rogue has a supporting cast of incredibly complex characters. Is there a particular dynamic you were excited to explore in this series? ERICA SCHULTZ: Gail Simone and David Marquez have done a fantastic job of showing the true love Remy and Rogue have for each other in UNCANNY X-MEN (2024). I wanted to make sure that Luigi and I keep that going.
Laura Kinney & Bucky Barnes Laura Kinney: Wolverine (2024) #5
Who hasn’t fought Captain America?
(Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #1)
Question?
Since it seems like “Age of Revelation” is basically just the new editorial shitting on Krakoa, with the excuse that it’s more “AoA”/“Age of X-Man” nostalgia…
Is “Laura Kinney Sabertooth” meant to be a deconstruction of her relationship with Synch?
The whole complaint about the Synch relationship was that Laura literally becomes an object for Everett. Her whole identity becomes about him. He literally even carries her around like a backpack in most of the art.
All of Laura’s story revolves around him during that era- Will they get back together? Will she remember her time in the Vault? Will Talon die saving Everett?
It causes her to forget Gabby exists and Jubilee even voices to clone Laura that she hasn’t hung out with her in a while.
“LKS” seems almost like a parody of all of that.
Laura literally wears the skin of her dead husband, by taking on the mantle of “Sabertooth”. She constantly laments a character that had zero panel time and completely abandons her family over it.
Schultz “kills” Laura fans preferred (and healthier!) ship; having Laura literally stab him in the heart. Hellion was, in many ways, the chronic detriment to writers pairing Laura with anybody… since most fans would just prefer her to be with Hellion. It was the biggest complaint with Synch and teen Warren.
It seems absolutely CRAZY to me, after the mass unpopularity of Synch and Laura… that a writer (especially a female writer!) would basically repeat the same story again, for a title that’s already been struggling! (although Marvel repeats itself constantly!)
Is this story purposeful? Is it meant to be some sort of commentary on Laura “becoming” who she thinks her partner “wants”… leading to the ultimate conclusion of her essentially trying to “be” them…
Is this a subtle commentary on years of Laura “being” Wolverine- essentially pressured to “be” a female Logan, instead of her own character? That Laura’s identity has become fractured and essentially dependent on all the male figures in her life?
Or is Schultz JUST a really bad writer?
