thinking about esme/beatrice. esme never actually wanted beatrice dead, she just wanted her to live with the same suffering, to feel as slighted as she made esme feel. wanted bea to feel esme's level of intensity and passion towards her. even if that intensity and passion was now due to anger and resentment! its better than nothing!

but ultimately beatrice will choose lemony instead of esme, and when she's done with lemony, she'll choose bertrand. always the safe option! and esme could never do safe, it was never her no matter how hard she tried.

"i want to steal from you the way beatrice stole from me!" always comes to mind. beatrice may be dead but she still painfully alive in esme's mind. she's still the first thing she thinks about in the morning and the last thing that plagues her mind before she goes to sleep.
