Espot, Spain (by Franco Gandini)
Santa Llogaia church in the town Espot (High Pyrenees, Catalonia). The church is documented since the 11th century but has been repeatedly rebuilt throughout the centuries, to the point that no trace of the Medieval building is seen today. The church as it stands now dates from the Baroque period.

The mountain with two peaks visible behind the trees is called Els Encantats ("The Enchanted Ones" in Catalan language). The reason for this name is explained in a local legend:
A long time ago, on Saint Maurice's Day, the inhabitants of Espot (the nearest town) were going on a romeria (short pilgrimage to a chapel done collectively on a holy day) to the chapel dedicated to this saint. While the population was hearing mass, two hunters walked by and made fun of them, saying that all those people were wasting their time praying to a stone statue instead of taking advantage of hunting season. Some people in the church heard their words and were hurt by them, so they prayed to Saint Maurice about it.
The hunters continued their hunt. In the mountain slopes, they saw the most beautiful wild goat they had ever seen, so they followed it to hunt it. The wild goat was young and strong, and the hunters struggled to keep up with its pace. When they reached the top of the mountain, they lost sight of it. They went to the mountaintop and looked down toward the valley, trying to spot the wild goat, exactly at the same time that the priest in the chapel was raising the blessed communion bread; and in that precise moment, a lightning fell on them and turn them into stone. For the rest of eternity, they became the petrified peaks of this mountain.
