In general I do not think the anime is bad. I think it tells a complete story, it’s just a different and smaller story. (This is why it is not the best version for me, who always prefers More Going On)
THAT SAID. The anime version of Yoshio Ootori is 100% a worse character than the manga version and it does a disservice to the narrative and to Kyoya’s character to have his father, the negative force that drives his life, be so simplified.
How absolutely horribly abysmal it must be to not only be suddenly, and permanently, separated from your one and only beloved mother, but to know that she is toiling away, enslaved to a despicable, greedy little worm, and likely languishing in her agony over the recent separation.
