So okay 10 hours later and that 2026 date is still bothering me. No month? Not even “Late 2026”? We’re halfway through 2026. This shit’s getting delayed.
I shouldn’t call it shit though because Ocarina of Time is my favorite Zelda game, if not my favorite game of all time. It is so special in so many ways. Part of what BotW lacks is that “specialness” — in both BotW and TotK they focused on gameplay and everything else was sidelined. Not OoT. OoT could never. I wouldn’t be surprised if this remake is Nintendo “testing the waters” about returning to a standard Zelda formula; the problem is that OoT is a 28-year-old game. I have a feeling that most of the sales for this remake will come from Millennials who played the game as kids, and Zelda fans buying the new Zelda game (which unfortunately includes me). BotW sold so well because it was open world. A lot of people nowadays are interested in that type of game; less so for an action-adventure game.
Of course I want this remake to do well, I just don’t know if it will. Which fucking terrifies me because if the next new mainline Zelda game is open world, I am going to throw something. I am so fucking sick of the Wild Era. Get me out of Wild Era hell. Please.

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: TWILIGHT PRINCESS (2006)
The legend of zelda truly is all about being trapped in cycle of anguish, violence and despair and still playing music with friends and helping a yeti make soup for his sick wife and playing with the village kids and rounding up cuccoos and delivering milk and giving fish to cats and helping a couple get married and being alone
what do you mean Echoes of Wisdom came out a year ago
I've been wanting to do this for over eight years. Never did. Until now.
Starting on January 1st, for Zelda's 40th anniversary year, I'm going to be playing every single Zelda game in order of release. Zelda 1 first, then Zelda 2, then Link to the Past. You get it.
I've played every Zelda game before, excluding the Four Swords games (and I'll be playing those this time -- FSA definitely, but the original Four Swords I don't know if I'll be able) so hardly any of this will be new, but I love Zelda games, man. I'd like to document my experiences playing through them all next year and am creating a tag for this event, starting now. Probably something stupid like #mistystwoyearsofzelda or something.
I considered trying to speedrun the games to fit all of them in one year, but I don't want to rush myself and ruin the enjoyment. Most likely, playing through all of the games will take about two years in total, but I'm fine with that. I'd rather thoroughly enjoy Twilight Princess and have it take two months rather than squeeze it into two weeks (and when I was considering doing two weeks, I figured out that I'd have to do a dungeon every other day, and no thank you).
I'm also going to play (most of) the spinoffs during these two years too. And, maybe, some Zelda-inspired or Zelda-esque games, like Eastbound or Tunic or such. To break it up, and all.
P.S. I've been playing Age of Imprisonment very slowly. I'm not having nearly as much fun with it as I did with Age of Calamity. It's fine though.
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening (2019) - Sword Search
I always like to imagine Zelda loves riding horseback during sunset or at dawn with her favorite knight, in the peaceful world of her happy ending...
You are a courageous boy…
You are heading out on a big, new adventure, aren’t you?
