MBTI House Shenanigans #2
A male INFP, male ESTJ, and female INFJ all living in the same home. This is one of their many tales of the strange home dynamic.
A debate surrounding political ideologies emerges.
ESTJ: I believe a utilitarian approach is necessary. It would create a society which would thrive on order, structure, and respect for authority. Ethics are important but we need to take into account what’s realistic and what’s functional.
INFJ: How could you say that? A humanist approach is vital to society! Society needs to be all inclusive, respectful, and understanding. Every culture and race needs to be viewed at an equal level. Every life counts.
Seeing both sides, wanting to maintain harmony, and not having a core value violated leaves the INFP quietly and uncomfortably shifting on the couch. The debate gradually becomes more and more heated
ESTJ: Yes those ideals are nice. It would be wonderful to include those in society but the bottom-line is that people suck. There will always be bigots and those who view other cultures, races, and groups as inferior.
The INFJ becomes quite passionate with her responses
INFJ: But it’s not enough to just say people suck. We need to actively work towards a harmonic society. We need to listen to those who are speaking out, but we largely ignore them. Racial issues NEED to be addressed, we can not possibly justify saying “oh, that’s how it is” and not do anything about it!
The INFJ becomes too distraught to continue. The ESTJ realizes he probably should’ve shut up a while ago and goes to comfort her. The INFP retreats to his room, wanting nothing but everyone to get along.
Hours later, when the ESTJ and INFJ have moved on with the conversation
INFP: Let’s never talk about that again. I love you guys...
