Hello, Loop.
hello chat! ray has gotten tired of dancing around it so we’re finally drafting a loop post. lmao.
it’s been stated before, but in weeping god au, loop is not another siffrin. there’s some more like semantics and stuff but what it boils down to is that they’re twins.
loop is almost a vessel of the change god in a similar way to siffrin being a vessel of the weeping god. CG and WG are sort of… it’s kind of complicated but they’re twins in the way tinkerbell and periwinkle are twins lmao. they’re essentially one soul that split into two deities and grew further apart over time.
but there are also a few differences here, because CG has been aware for much longer than WG, and this is because before their awakening, there were tens upon hundreds upon thousands of Wishes for things to Change.
solstice
originally, the change god was known as "solstice that heralds life", or just solstice for short. they "woke up" (became an actual thinking and feeling entity rather than just fragments of a concept) in the middle of a very turbulent time in astreia's history. these events left them on really bad terms with most of the astreian pantheon, and led to them leaving astreia altogether, going on to found vaugarde with a relatively small group of people.
(despite this history, vaugarde and astreia had a positive relationship before the latter was erased. things have Changed a lot, but it's difficult to see from the perspective of a god.)
because of these events, they also kept their distance from the weeping god. there's a lot of history (that ray has been frantically writing about the last couple of days lol)(it's done btw, have -Ray), but what it comes down to is just... lingering resentment. there's a lot of anger and hurt that they weren't ready to let go of, at least until finally seeing what the loops were doing to siffrin.
they couldn't just sit back and watch. they had to do something. (they had to Change.)
loop
loop is, first and foremost, a means to an end. they were only created because CG saw siffrin suffering in the loops, and they realized they had to be the one to take the first step. to Change. to try and resolve that lingering resentment between them (that was a lot more complicated than it seemed.)
they made a Wish, and that Wish was granted in the form of a statue. an effigy of them, just like all the others, except this one could move and speak and act.
CG didn't expect to become so attached to those actions, didn't expect to grow so attached to siffrin, didn't expect to love the idea of being a person. of being loop.
but once the loops were broken, that was it. their body wasn't created to withstand them. the only reason it hadn't crumbled fully during the loops, was because it was constantly regenerating when time was wound back. they were crumbling at the seams, and could not be fixed.
so, eventually, they had to say goodbye.
euanthe
post-loops is a little more complicated. it took a lot of time, and a lot of negotiation, and reconnecting with an old friend.
through circumstances that are not going to be detailed in this post, they obtain a body that's meant for them. created for them, with the same Craft that works in every other vessel. the same Craft they should have been offered, when they first awakened. (things were different then. they're different in the present, too. it's not necessarily a bad thing.)
they took on the face of someone they once knew, a body that could outlast the centuries they would need it. an appearance that once left the shores of that place that was their home, Wishing that things had been different.
well, time can Change a lot of things.
so instead of Solstice, their name becomes Euanthe, until they can face that place that birthed them once again.
