I have decided that I am going to be posting everyday of my exam period in order to keep accountability for studying and to have something to look back on. I will be posting study tips, blurts of what I revised that day, reflections on how my exams are going and other related things. Today is going to be an introductory post!
HL English (6) - 12th May
HL English (6) - 12th May
HL Psychology (6) - 17th / 18th May
HL Anthropology (6) - 28th / 29th April
SL French (6) - 19th / 20th May
SL Maths (5) - 6th / 9th May
SL ESS (5) - 5th / 6th May
I'll come back later and add links to the posts talking about these exams once I've done them :)
I think overall I'm going to get around 33-4 points which is slightly lower than I had wanted when I started the IB but because I didn't come to school for most of the last three / four months of school, it's the most realistic grade I can achieve.
I have been studying a little bit over the past few weeks but not as much as I would have wanted to (for reasons mentioned above) so I'm really hoping to make the most of how much space there is between exams.
Tomorrow I'll be talking about how I'm studying for each subject + tips! The other posts will be more interesting than this, I just wanted to make a quick introduction!
freshlycutgrass's exam blog: days 2 & 3 bc i totally did some work yesterday...
Hi! I'm writing this the day before my exams start - eek!!
I've had a burst of motivation to study today, but only after I had cleaned and rearranged my desk. It was helpful procrastination I swear !! Because now I can have enough room on my desk to write stuff and use a textbook, rather than having to have the textbook on my lap or something.
Today I've gotten a lot done and I feel pretty much as ready as I can be for tomorrow. I've gotten my exam pencil case ready (pencils, black pens, ruler, rubber/sharpener, calculator, emotional support frog, highlighters...)

For the rest of today I'm going to continue with my to-do list - it was the first one I'd made in months !!!!!!! Which makes me very happy because I haven't been able to study / do literally anything productive over the last fiveish months because of my mental health (actually, this time, not like above lol) but I've been back to working like I used to! I've been watching rumplestudy's co-working stream on twits (rlly recommend!), making a todo list (and actually doing it), taking healthy breaks, and altogether managing to balance listening to myself and my body with doing the work I need to do!
I don't feel as nervous for my actual IB exams as I did for my mock exams, though maybe that'll change tomorrow morning lol.
(No I didn’t forget again, what are you talking about)
Yeahhhh so! The nice thing with e3a is that it’s amazingly easy compared to Mines-Ponts. Like. Wowwwww I’m actually able to do science now.
SI went as smoothly as it could have, a big subject with a majority of “asservissement” (I don’t know how it’s called in english, just know that it has nothing to do with slavery, contrary to what the name could make you think), and that’s roughly the only I can do x)
And if I’m lucky, that’d be the last time in my life when I have to do this thing.
And English was fairly easy (acknowledging the fact that I’m writing this in english, I’m sure you can guess why), a MCQ and a text synthesis, so yay.
Alright, now the last two days monday and tuesday! And it’ll be over!
(no i won’t do this fucking year again, if I decide to do that i’ll cry real tears)
Day 11: Mines-Ponts — Industrial Sciences, French, Chemistry
Wellllll
SI was as usual: avoided the mechanics questions and focus on the others because I suck less at it
French as usual too, except the quote we had to essay about was fucking stupid but I managed to get through it
And chemistry was absolutely catastrophic but hey, I suck at it either way and it was 17h on the last day of Mines Ponts so what else was to be expected x)
Well now it’s over, one last competitive exam and it’s really over! e3a should be a piece of cake compared to Mines
And what did I learn this week? Three exams a day for three days in a warehouse where is 30°C is NOT fun
Day 10: Mines-Ponts — Math 2, Physics 2, Computer Science
I’m gonna make this quick, I’m really not in the mood, almost no one’s going to read this anyway. I’m just doing it because I don’t have anything better to do anyway.
Math 2 : Terrible, awful, catastrophic. These 4 hours really messed me up. I got plenty of time to think how fucked I was for Mines-Ponts, and remembering the people, including a certain person, who let me go when I needed help the most. And how alone I really am now. I spent 2 good hours trying to hold back my tears, and once I’m done writing this garbage log, I’ll be doing just that.
Physics 2 : Actually not that bad, it was a subject I appreciate and I did things.
Computer Science: Like it always is, not particularly pleasant nor extremely annoying. It just happened. I did things, far from everything, the thing was way too long for 1hr30min.
Ohhhh boy here comes the serious stuff. And contrary to Centrale, I actually had some hope to get something from Mines. Had.
No but more seriously, Math 1 was absolutely doable, a bit hard and not very guided questions, but still fun.
Physics 1 oohhhhh craaaaap. Everyone got slapped on the butt on that one. Like everyone. Every. One. That wasn’t pretty. Long story short it was a bit of the CCP thing from Friday but not helped at ALL. Which sucks. Sucked a whole bunch on this one, but so did everyone. And apparently, there could be a possibility that this subject was way too hard for us (pour taper dans les potins, c’est possible que ça vienne de Sup Optique, une école de Centrale, et faire un sujet de Centrale au concours des Mines, c’est tendu, surtout que les deux ne peuvent pas se blairer).
And English was nice, a translation and two opens questions, I like those.
Thought : to the people in Paris who cross the roads without looking, who fear neither god nor death, what the heck is wrong with you, you’re gonna die son
Annnnnnd I’m off now
Wait!
I finished the English early so what good idea can one have? Write a Tolkien poem. Of. Course. What else? Go outside into the blazing heat? Don’t think so.
(Et oui c’est « gage de qualité » pas « cache » je sais, mais j’étais fatiguée oké)
Woooooah did surprisingly well at this one! I’m actually really happy! I don’t know how, but I started struggling a big bunch but in the end I did a lot of things! That was the fullest paper I turned yet!
And let’s talk about something about the people that were surrounding me during the CCP papers. Two never showed up even once. Two others’ specialty : arriving like 20min late, leaving 2 hours later. But today had a bonus! They slept. Totally slept. The dude diagonally behind me on the left actually audibly SNORED. I caught a girl’s eyes even further behind who noticed the dude’s snoring too and we both began laughing a bit. Anyway. Even though that was a big annoying (because come on dude, take things a bit seriously maybe? no?), I really appreciated this morning’s physics. So yay!
Next stop? Mines-Ponts. I’m sure it’ll be less fun but oh well, I still have a teeny-tiny hope I will be able to do some things...? And even? Get qualified to get to the orals? Maybe? Who knows?
Anyway, just woke up from a 4 hour nap this afternoon, got a full 2-day week-end so Imma sleep a whole bunch, and see you on Monday for new adventures! c:
