EXIT2 - ...And get outta here
Gameplay: To say the controls are exactly the same as the first game would be pretty much the entire truth here. Things might be a tiny bit smoother during a side by side comparison but not really enough to notice that much. There's now the addition of swimming to worry about as well as much more variety in the level types but besides that it's very much a minor refinement rather than a true sequel.
Don't think that this is a bad thing though, the more you play EXIT or EXIT 2 you realise that the slow pace of the main character is essential to stop you from constantly killing yourself by accident. It also gives you time to think and plan ahead.
There may be a lot of controls to contend with, but their implementation is straightforward and logical once you get your head round it.
Visuals and Sound: As with the gameplay, it's more of the same. The graphics look a little sharper and the main colour scheme is now pink instead of yellow, but that doesn't make a huge difference to the overall feel.
Most frustratingly the civilian characters still have the same annoying and repetitive voices, this is perhaps the weakest part of this sequel.
Controls and graphics are marginally better.
Lots of new locations comprising an astounding 230 levels.
Mr. Esc's new jacket looks silly.
Same annoying whiny civilians.
Worth a purchase?: If you've played and enjoyed the first EXIT this is a no-brainer purchase, get it now! It's more of the same admittedly but there's so many new levels to conquer you'd be a fool not to.
For those of you who haven't played either of these two games I'd recommend starting with the original, the minor improvements and greater variety in this sequel mean you probably won't want to go back to that after playing this.
Whatever you're choice I heartily recommend give the EXIT games a go, they're something quite precious these days: original and fun.
