Day and Night I Cry Out Before You

A Psalm for the sons of Korah. To the Chief Musician.“On Mahalath, to make humble.”

1 O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before You.

2 Let my prayer come before You; bow down Your ear to my cry,

3 For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near the grave.

4 I am counted with those who go down to the pit; I am like a feeble man with no strength;

5 Set apart among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom You remember no more; and they are cut off from Your hand.

6 You have laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps.

7 Your wrath lies hard upon me, and You have afflicted me with all Your waves. Selah.

8 You have put my acquaintance far away from me; You have made me an abomination to them. I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.

9 My eyes mourn because of affliction; O LORD, daily I have called upon You; I have stretched out my hands to You.

10 Will You show wonders to the dead? Shall the dead rise and praise You? Selah.

11 Shall Your lovingkindness be declared in the grave? Or Your faithfulness in destruction?

12 Shall Your wonders be known in the dark, and Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

13 But to You I have cried, O LORD; and in the morning my prayer shall come before You.

14 O LORD, why do You cast off my soul? Why do You hide Your face from me?

15 From my youth I have been afflicted and close to death; I have suffered Your terrors and am in despair.

16 Your fierce wrath goes over me; Your terrors have cut me off.

17 They surrounded me like waters all the day long; they have come together all around me.

18 You have taken lover and friend far from me, and my acquaintances into darkness.

Catching Waves

I have acquired the most basic understanding about Astrology in the past few months, and looking through that lens I am able to see the energies of the Universe at work. The premier celestial event this month was Jupiter's transition into Scorpio (Oct. 10). This is considered an important astrological event because with every planetary sign transition there is an energetically corresponding change in our reality; as above so below. Jupiter, being the biggest Planet in the Solar System, brings about noticeable energetic changes by expanding our knowledge and experience in the different areas of life.

Looking back to Jupiter's transit through Libra(Sep.2016-Oct.2017) the expansive energy clearly brought my life's focus and awareness to partnerships, romantic or otherwise. I was unconsciously experiencing the celestial energies manifested in front of my own eyes. My life took a turn from depression and seclusion into partnership and self exploration climaxing at the brake up of a relationship. Attempting to rescue that relationship I found myself realizing what a relationship truly means in my own terms. I cherish the memorable life changing experiences that were the catalyst to personal and emotional growth, and I am grateful for all the lessons and blessing.

This current transition of Jupiter into Scorpio takes the energy focus from Libra’s partnerships and places the blessings on the heart's passions and desires, on deep healing, and emotional expression. Perhaps emotions that have been put away, almost forgotten, and are an impediment to daily functioning. This year, having the most basic knowledge of astrology, I am aware of the workings of the Universe and how that manifests in my life. I seized the opportunity the transition provided and used the energy to heal. I opened up to my parents about personal issues of the kind that were put away for years and became an impediment, lifting a great weight off my shoulders and opening that space for positive energy. Emotional expression; so effortless fore some, so difficult for others.

The Universe is an infinite manifestation of gradients, but to not get too abstract and off topic I will close by saying that the astrological interpretation is an outstanding tool in the navigation of this trip we call life, so long as you can step out of yourself and look at it though that lens. If you find yourself in a familiar position of negative feeling and emotion I invite you to catch Jupiter's wave and allow yourself to do what you know will bring you blessings and healing.

Tenth Post: Reflection

Something I noticed while doing research was the fact that there was not much information on the transgender group specifically. When I did find scholarly articles that talked about the impacts of laws, they mostly talked about LGB many times leaving out trans people. I also found many articles on same-sex marriage, further making me realize how the trans agenda does not fit into the broader LGBTQ agenda. Now that same-sex marriage is legal in all 50 states it will be interesting to see what other big agenda the community has. Is the time to advocate for the rights of trans people now? Or is it going to be pushed aside?

I also want to note that I had initially wanted to talk about transgender rights in general but I ended up choosing the laws that protect transgender people at work. I thought this would allow me to learn more about an issue rather than focusing on an array of things. I always wanted to talk about bathroom policies and how to make them accessible to people who are gender variant. One problem I did come across was that since the fight for bathroom policies have just taken on some speed there was not a lot of academic literature about it.

The research I did here has helped me learned the many differences many people face. In my own closed minded way of seeing institutional racism I only thought it was based on color. I also think now that instead of trying to change laws we should try and incorporate every kind of person regardless of how they look or identify so they too can be protected under the laws that are already established. Even though this is my opinion there is many ways things can get changed. I want to finish off saying that doing the research was a bit challenging but I am happy that I kept my topic.

Life is kind of like a party. You invite a lot of people, some leave early, some stay all night, some laugh with you, some laugh at you, and some show up really late. But in the end, after the fun, there are a few who stay to help clean up the mess. And most of the time, they aren't even the ones who made the mess. These people are your true friends in life. They are the only ones who matter.

Mistakes

If everything we did was right we will have boring ass Lives. We make alot of mistakes, experience alot of things, it's one big learning experience. We do things, might be mistakes or a slip-up, we make them so we won't make those same mistakes again later in life.
