My copies of the newly released self-titled double cassette album by False Maria off of the Helen Scarsdale Agency label-- ‘cause it is Haute Musique. J and T always deliver interesting and creative noise, but this album, even more so, is genuinely intelligent, both musically and lyrically. Their music here is evocative of so many sometimes contradictory feelings: beauty and pain; power and vulnerability; redemption and a degree of darkness that most people only get glimpses of in their lifetimes.
There are times listening to this album when I get a warm, tingly feeling on my scull. I could swear my hair is standing up, but I shave my scalp to the skin...ha, ha. I think I’ve listened to this album once a day since it arrived.
