Exploding Goldfish, simply known as "Fish" by most everyone, was born to a family of miners in Uldah. Throughout his life he was surrounded by heavy machinery, sparking a lifelong love of machines and inventing. His youth was spent learning everything he could about technology. His studies eventually paid off and he scored the first step to the job of his dreams, repairing the machines used for the Wolves Den Pier's multitude of events. Everything was going exactly as Fish could have wished.
Then one day, a freak accident had occurred during regular maintenance of a Rival Wings machina. An errant crystal ruptured right in Fish's face, scarring him for life and costing him full sight in his left eye. Mere days after the incident and before he was even fully recovered, Exploding Goldfish was let go from his position at the Pier. Not all was a loss however, as his time there netted Fish a partnership and brotherhood with a wiry Viera named Qara Wren. Adrift for a while, the two eventually found themselves taken aboard the merchant ship The Enduring Deeds as maintenance handlers and deckhands.
Fish is loud, blunt, and never afraid to speak his mind, but still quite agreeable so long as you have some ale or gil to help your favor. Not one to dwell too much on the past, he constantly has his one good eye towards the future, which in turn has him being quite forgetful from time to time. His scatterbrained nature has led him to bump heads with many of the other crew members, Claire Ashe most especially. His variety of trinkets and gadgets he is constantly creating in his free time may not look the most well put together, but no one can deny that they always get the job done; something that could also be said of their creator.
