If you look at the entire field of psychology through an ACAB lens you are not welcome here. I don't want to paint psychotic and/or manic folks as violent, as they are very often the targets of violence instead, but my mother would likely have killed herself or me during one of her severe psychotic manic episodes if she didn't have the medicine she does now. She's gone off that medicine out of necessity before and it was extremely detrimental to her mental health.
I do not trust you if you villainize all medication. Medication has fucking saved my mother's life. You should be villainizing the industry that makes her medication $60 a pill. You should be villainizing the industry that refuses to take her insurance because anti-psychotics and mood stabilizers aren't seen as essential.
The psych industry is full of sanism, ableism, classism, racism, sexism... you list it, it's probably there. But saying that psych as a science and medicine is just as bad as the police force and fundamentally incapable of good is fucking bullshit.
Edit: Y'know, I think my mind has been a little changed. I don't think highly of folks who want to abolish the entire field, but hey, there are similarities between and ties to the police there.
