“You can’t just form DID because your parent wanted you to do the dishes”
An example I’ve heard not applicable to me
Actually. Depending on how that occurs, it could very well be something that contributes to the formation of a CDD.
If it was “if I don’t wash the dishes, my parent beats me” then yeah.
If it was “if I don’t wash the dishes, my parent will lock me in a cupboard” then yeah.
If it was “if I don’t wash the dishes, my parent will yell and scream at me” then yeah.
If it was “if I don’t wash the dishes, I get silent treatment” then yeah
If these are all happening frequently, or other punishment methods I have not mentioned, and it’s something that’s inescapable then it can absolutely contribute. Just because it was “small” (ie not necessarily overtly abusive) doesn’t mean it can’t have contributed to causing a CDD.
Not to mention if these are happening just over washing some dishes, then there is likely other traumatic issues going on in the household.
This is just an example, and doesn’t give the full story behind CDD formation, it’s mostly just a “hey you were traumatised, doesn’t matter what made you traumatised, you are valid as someone who has been through trauma”.
