Honest question: If doormats are generally frowned upon because they can be considered inviting to the fae, and its also generally frrowned upon to have a doormat that says something like "go away" something like that because its rude and you may offend said fae, would a doormat that says "Ask not for who the dog bars, it barks for thee." Because its implying a dog barking at you which means please leave, but is not directly being rude just because a dog is protecting its territory.

Tl;dr - Is my dog and doormat going to get me cursed?

So, re: Fae name magic.

Let’s say you meet a celebrity you love, have them sign your body, then go get it tattooed into your skin.

Do they own a part of you, because they signed you, or do you own a part of them because you now have their name, from their own “mouth”, if you will?

Rereading Beowulf and remembering that Grendel is 

1) not confirmed to be the name of the individual, could be his species or a title

2) CONFIRMED TO BE ONE OF THE CURSED DESCENDANTS OF THE BIBLICAL CAIN 

and you’re just sitting there like..... “welp at least I have something to call these guys that ppl outside of the TMA fandom will understand and that isn’t ‘fae, unspecified, possible affiliation with wild hunt’” and you go to your fic ideas list with the Cold Iron Theory Fix It Fic and delete “what are they, exactly, though???” and type “species: grendel” and then that’s a question that never needed answering but god damn if it just got answered so good work everybody

...or should I say, “Fae SIDHE of tumblr” ok I’ll stop with the puns

Does anyone have any resources on what exactly happens to a fae who is injured by cold iron, and if/how it can be reversed? all manner of headcanons/dubious sources/modern fiction/fragments of old poems welcome. 

if you need specifics on the TYPE of fae, I’d say that the closest I thing I could point to would be a Grendel-type being, in the older tellings. Fairly human in appearance, a bit larger than human average and EXTREMELY uncanny, some werecreature/fiend/cursed attributes but none that are visible on the surface. skin isn’t bladeproof so probably younger than Grendel was at the time he was mentioned.
