Batman had made many mistakes during his early years, some bigger than others, but he learned his lessons along the way. One of those mistakes had been adding artificial wings to his suit, which only lasted for two weeks before he retired them, Bruce decided gliding was more than enough for him.

But then, he lets it slip he knows what flying is like, and the Justice League notices, and sleep-deprived bat responds less than eloquently.

I am utterly stuck on Cryptid Batfam.  Like, does Bruce have any idea what he’s doing? No, no he doesn’t, but he’s trying his best and bonding with his downright feral kids who gleefully terrorize the underbelly of Gotham.  He has no clue what normal kids do, and they keep copying him when he’s out being a cryptid towards the criminals. Alfred is the only “normal” person and honestly he gives off immortal fae vibes even outside the night-time activities.  They all giggle and complain about the different rumours that the goons spread about them. Argue who has the best legend and who has utterly baffling ones. So far Jason is winning, as his armor hides his breath like, 90% of the time and everyone knows that the Red Hood is some sort of undead.

Bite Sized AU: Fake / Mechanical Wings AU

Bruce leaned into the whole cryptic bit, and now the whole family has wings. The wings are linked to their brain, so they can move them subconsciously like any other limp. Because of this, they can also accidentally portray emotions, such as fluffing up and out when they are trying to be intimidating / making themselves look bigger. (Sometimes they just shift around, like how some people move around their hands when speaking) Sometimes, if they end up flirting while they have them on, the wings will even move in some type of mating dance, which is so unique to the Bats and his brood (because bird mating dances and humanoid bird mating dances are very different), then on top of that, each of them have a different one, nobody but the Bats themselves can pin down what it means. The bat kids all poke fun at each other when they catch their siblings doing it unknowingly.

Every time I learn a new instrument, the first thing I learn to play on it is the intro instrumental part of Fake Wings from .hack//sign (Yuki Kajiura)

It's such a simple, haunting melody.

It's played in my head, without exception, every single day since I heard it in like 2002.

I wish I could have found more videos of goose feathers, they’re more waxy (middle gif) than most bird feathers so I didn’t want to put “normal” feather gifs, although their under feathers are extremely soft, as you can see in the top gif :)
