Much like we enjoy a spring cleaning, a fall cleaning is essential to prepare for the cozy months ahead. Let’s dive into the key areas to focus on during your autumnal tidying spree. Remember, you can tailor your fall cleaning to suit your unique needs and preferences, making it as detailed and delightful as you wish!

🍂 Forgotten Spaces

With more time spent indoors, it's crucial to improve your home's air quality. Make sure to dust all those often-overlooked areas: nooks and crannies, ceiling fans, the tops of cabinets and refrigerators, vents, air returns, and blinds. A thorough dusting will help ensure a fresh and clean environment throughout the season.

🌰 Clean Your Linen

As we cozy up more during the colder months, don't forget to give attention to all your linens. Freshen up your curtains, rugs, blankets, sheets, pillowcases, furniture covers, and mattresses, along with any other fabric-covered furniture that may have been overlooked during the warmer seasons.

🍂 Deep Clean

Give your home a thorough deep clean by tackling the walls, baseboards, doors, door handles, light fixtures, and appliances. Don't forget to clean your fridge and freezer, washing machine, dryer vent, and replace your shower curtain as well as batteries in any detectors in the home for a fresh start.

🌰 Outdoors

Don't forget about the exterior of your home as the weather changes. While I don’t worry too much about the yard after the last cut (leaves are great for the ecosystem and fun for kids), it’s important to keep walkways clear. Keep a rake and broom handy for this task. Consider power washing your house and sidewalks, cleaning out your gutters, and hosting a yard sale to declutter. Additionally, check your pantry and donate any food you no longer plan to use.

People who do"Spring Cleaning" do you guys feel that seasonal shift where you just need to clean winter out of your house? Like is it like an instinctual urge? Because I only feel it at the end of August. Like my brain tells me you need to clean the house, the yard, etc because you'll be stuck inside the house for the next few months, and this is your last chance to unload all the crap you dont want at swap meets and online sales before they all go quiet. What does your brain say for "Spring Cleaning"?

-intentions: remove old obstacles, release shame and guilt, & unfasten unwanted bonds

-begin from the harvest moon or the last full moon before autumn, to be completed on the next new moon

-clip nails (just fingers, or all) & save them

-deep clean your home/space; focus on the things that you have been avoiding

-prepare a black candle, with salt representing purification

-throughout this time period, meditate on what you will be letting go of & leaving behind; memories, situations, people, objects, ideologies

-finish your cleaning before the sun rises on the day of the new moon

-trim the ends of your hair & combine it with your nails

-on the night of the new moon, light the salted black candle, and bury the hair & nails in a small, but deep, hole. tamp the dirt out to help return its undisturbed appearance, and if possible, cover with a stone or rock (s)
