Shinichiro's Girlfriend, Apparently Everyone's Sister
Requested fic by @looha. I had so much fun writing this; I hope you guys will enjoy reading it too.
Warnings: none. It's platonic fic
Shinichiro introduced his girlfriend; Mikey and Emma were surprised. How come such a gorgeous goddess ended up dating their loser brother, Shinichiro?
"Oi Mikey!! What's with that face?" Shinichiro asked, offended, as if he could read Mikey's mind.
Before Mikey could say anything, you smiled and held out the small paper bag. "Shin told me you kids love taiyaki, so I brought some."
Shinichiro immediately groaned. "Gosh, you don't need to—"
Mikey immediately snatched the taiyaki from her hand and started eating it without even saying a word.
Emma smiled and politely took it from you. "Thank you, Y/N-nee!!"
You couldn't help but think how adorable the kids were. Mikey happily ate his taiyaki.
Shinichiro scolded him for not thanking you. "Mikey, manners."
You waved Shinichiro off. "It's fine."
Mikey came over to you and held out the taiyaki.
You looked at him. "What's this?"
"You're nice..."
You smiled softly and took it. "Thank you, Mikey."
Mikey nodded, apparently satisfied, before running back to Emma.
Shinichiro watched him, then looked at you with a tired sigh. "See? Now he's definitely going to expect snacks every time you come over."
You glanced at the half-empty bag in your hand. "Maybe I'll bring some next time."
"Y/N..."
Over time, every time you visited Shinichiro's home, you started bringing extra snacks for his siblings
One day, Shinichiro mentioned that he had to go to Yokohama for some work.
You immediately narrowed your eyes at him. "What kind of work?"
You knew your dumbass boyfriend well enough to know that "work" could mean anything.
Shinichiro shrugged. "Nothing important. I'll be back later."
You stared at him. "Shin-Shin"
"What?"
"Are you actually going for work, or are you sneaking off with your friends again?"
He avoided your eyes.
"You're unbelievable."
"I'll be fine."
"You're probably going to meet your friends and get yourself beaten up again, aren't you?"
Shinichiro looked offended. "Why does everyone always assume the worst about me?"
"Because you keep proving me right."
Shinichiro laughed awkwardly, and you crossed your arms.
After a few minutes of arguing, he finally sighed. "Fine. Come with me."
You smiled triumphantly. "Good...I'm not leaving you alone"
You had expected him to take you somewhere with his friends, but instead, he stopped in front of an orphanage.
You looked at the building, then at him. "Shin... why are we here?"
"I told you I had something to do."
"This doesn't look like work."
Shinichiro laughed awkwardly. "Just come on."
You followed him inside the building. Eventually, he stopped in front of a boy sitting by himself. "Oi, Izana."
The boy looked up.
Shinichiro smiled and gestured toward you. "I want you to meet someone. This is my girlfriend."
You smiled politely. "Hi, Izana. It's nice to meet you."
Izana stared at you for a moment before looking back at Shinichiro.
"Your girlfriend?"
"Yeah."
You glanced at Shinichiro. "Wait, you never told me about him."
Shinichiro scratched the back of his head. "I guess I forgot."
You gave him an unimpressed look. "You forgot to mention you have another sibling?"
"It's a long story."
Izana continued to watch you, clearly suspicious of the whole situation. You didn't blame him. You were basically a stranger who had suddenly walked into the orphanage, with Shinichiro introducing you as his girlfriend.
Unlike Mikey and Emma, who had quickly gotten comfortable around you, Izana didn't seem interested in talking.
You sat with Shinichiro for a while, occasionally glancing over at Izana. He mostly kept to himself, answering Shinichiro whenever he spoke but barely acknowledging you.
Before leaving, you noticed you still had some snacks in your bag.
You pulled one out and held it toward him. "Do you want one?"
Izana looked at the snack, then at you. "Why?"
You shrugged. "I brought too many."
He hesitated before taking it. "Thanks."
You smiled. "You're welcome."
That was pretty much it for your first meeting.
Izana didn't suddenly become friendly with you, and you didn’t expect him to. Slowly, he started trusting you, talking to you more, and sometimes even sitting beside you while you talked with Shinichiro
It had been a while since you and Shinichiro had a proper date.
You'd dragged yourself to S.S. Motors hoping he'd finish early, but he was still halfway through fixing a motorcycle while you sat nearby on a stool, bored.
"You're making that face again," Shinichiro said without looking up.
"What face?"
"The one that says, 'My boyfriend lied about being free today.'"
You sighed dramatically. "Because he did."
Shinichiro chuckled, wiped the grease off his hands, and leaned against the workbench. "I never lied. I said I'd be free... eventually."
"Eventually isn't a time."
"Come on, don't be mad." He flashed you his stupid smile. "You're way too pretty to waste it on glaring at me."
You snorted. "That was your flirt?"
"It usually works."
"It usually makes me question my taste in men."
He clutched his chest. "Ouch."
You stood up and wrapped your arms around him from behind, your cheek resting against his shoulder. "Hurry up. I wanted to spend today with you."
Shinichiro smiled to himself. "Five more minutes."
The shop door suddenly slammed open.
"Shin-Niiii!!!! Y/N-nee!!!"
You and Shinichiro both turned at the same time.
Emma came running in with Senju beside her, and between Emma's hands was a tiny orange-and-white kitten.
"Look what we found!" Emma beamed.
Your eyes immediately softened. "Oh my god... she's so tiny."
Mikey rushed over first, followed by Baji and Haruchiyo.
"Let me hold her!" Mikey demanded.
"I asked first!" Baji complained, trying to squeeze beside him.
Haruchiyo tried to hold the small kitten, but the second kitten wiggled; he panicked and shoved his hands back. "Nope. She's too small."
Senju burst into laughter. "You got scared!"
"I didn't!" Haruchiyo protested. "I just don't want to drop her."
You carefully scratched the kitten behind her ears while the boys crowded around you. "She's adorable."
Shinichiro walked over, took one look at the kitten, and sighed. "She's cute... but Grandpa's allergic. There's no way he'll let us keep her."
Mikey and Emma immediately pouted.
"Please?" Emma asked.
"No amount of pouting is changing Grandpa's allergies," Shinichiro replied.
Senju raised her hand. "I'll take her home!"
Before Shinichiro could answer, Haruchiyo looked at his sister. "Takeomi won't even let you keep a goldfish."
Senju's shoulders dropped. "...Right."
Baji scratched his head. "My apartment's tiny. Mom would never say yes."
You glanced around the shop before snapping your fingers. "What if we make her a little shelter outside the shop? Just until we find someone who can keep her."
Mikey's face lit up again. "We can build it!"
"I'll get a box!" Baji shouted before running toward the storage room.
"I'll find blankets!" Emma grabbed Senju's hand and dragged her away.
Haruchiyo pointed at the shelf. "There's an old towel up there!"
Within seconds, kids get busy. You looked over at Shinichiro with a guilty smile.
He sighed, but the corners of his mouth lifted anyway. "So much for our date."
You nudged his shoulder. "We'll go later."
"Yeah," he laughed. "Apparently, my girlfriend belongs to everyone now."
A few years had passed since then; you and Shinichiro had been talking more about marriage.
One afternoon, you were sitting with Shinichiro when you brought it up.
"If we're getting married, shouldn't you start looking for a proper place?" you asked Shinichiro. "I don't want us to keep living in this old house forever."
Shinichiro nodded. "Yeah, I've been thinking about it too. I'll look around and see what I can find."
Neither of you noticed Emma standing nearby.
Later, she found Mikey. "Mikey..."
He looked over at her. "What?"
Emma told him what she'd heard. "I think Y/N-nee and Shin-nii are going to move out."
Mikey went quiet. "Oh."
Emma looked down. "Maybe she doesn't want to be around us anymore."
Mikey frowned.
After that, you noticed Emma wasn't talking to you as much, while Mikey kept his distance even though he still looked over whenever you spoke.
Eventually, you found Mikey sitting outside alone.
You walked over and sat beside him. "What's wrong with you lately, Mikey?"
"Nothing."
"Don't give me that. You've barely talked to me."
He shrugged.
You asked, "Did I do something?"
Mikey looked away. "You're moving out."
You blinked. "What?"
"You and Shinnichiro are getting married and moving away."
You finally understood. "Mikey....."
He kept his eyes on the ground. "You don't have to pretend. If you want privacy from us, that's fine."
Your expression softened. "That's not why I want to move."
Mikey finally looked at you.
You reached over and pulled him into a hug before he could say anything else. "I'm not leaving you."
He stayed quiet in your arms.
"I just want Shinichiro and me to have our own place someday. That's all. It doesn't mean I'm going to stop visiting you, and it definitely doesn't mean I don't like having you around."
Mikey mumbled, "Really?"
You smiled and hugged him a little tighter. "Really. You're stuck with me, Mikey."
After a moment, he finally relaxed. "Even if you move?"
"Even if I move."
He nodded and comfortably pressed his cheeks against yours. "Good."
You pulled back and messed up his hair. "You were seriously sulking over this?"
"I wasn't sulking."
"Sure."
He rolled his eyes, but this time he was smiling.
From inside the house, Emma peeked through the doorway.
You noticed her and held out your hand. "Come here, Emma."
She immediately ran over and hugged you too.
Shinichiro watched from the doorway, completely confused. "What did I miss?"
You laughed. "Apparently, my siblings thought I was abandoning them."
Shinichiro stared at Mikey. "Manjiro, seriously?"
"Shut up, Shinnichiro."
You laughed as Shinichiro shook his head.
Even after all these years, you still couldn't have a private conversation about your future without one of his siblings getting involved.
