Fantasy Map Generator
Now that I’ve been blogging about this stuff for years, it’s nice to be able to trace the influence of things I’ve talked about in the past on other people’s projects. For example, this map generator is inspired by Martin O’Leary’s NaNoGenMo work and by Amit Patel’s map generator, among other things, while adding interactive controls to customize the generation.
It’s also, according to the author’s description, intended as a prototype for a larger dynasty simulation project, which I will watch for with interest. (The author also asks for source code pointers. My suggestion is to integrate Tracery.)

An Infinite Lake.
This short story was not made with a prompt. Why? Read on.
Since my #10kWritingChallenge, I have been doing other things than writing. Mostly, I’ve been playing around with Azgaar’s Fantasy Map Generator. I’m currently working on a huge map that I plan to completely customize and plan down to the smallest village.
Anyway, while I have a vague idea for the story (or stories) that will use the map, there is nothing stopping me from adding little short stories to the individual elements as I create them. And, I just name a basin of the big lake (which doesn’t have a name yet) Arncaster Basin. Here is a glimpse as to why.
I might extend this to something a little longer. We’ll see.
A peak at Arncaster Lake below :)
you ever just mess around in fantasy map generator
This is for RPGing but it has a lot of generators for maps, names, adventures, etc that can be quite helpful for fantasy writers that haven't planned their entire story yet. I already planned out a map but I'm very much liking the map generator. Check it out.
