It's time for the second of my @reversefantasyspnbang collaborations, and this one was with the amazing @hobbyistauthor!
I've been on a serious pre-Raphaelite kick these past few months—which you'll see more of coming soon—but this is the first piece inspired by that school that I get to share publicly. The (very) direct inspiration for this piece was Evelyn de Morgan's aptly-titled 1880 painting The Angel of Death - and yes, I did stick really close to reproducing the original with just some color variations in the garments and of course, making it Rowena and Billie. The pose in the original art just seemed so close to the scene between them in "Funeralia" I couldn't help but wonder if they had been inspired by the art during filming as well!
Here's a close-up of Rowena and Billie taken in slightly different light to see more of the shimmer paint and details. I was using some shimmer watercolors as well as putting in a lot of detail work with pen and acrylic paint pen, especially on those wing feathers:
@hobbyistauthor wrote a beautiful story to go with the art and I couldn't be more thrilled that they chose to claim it! Please go read it and give them some love <3
