Illidan found it ironic, for someone who had struggled against insomnia for the majority of his life it was only now that he was on borrowed time that he found it easier to be asleep then be awake.  

She was his anchor all he had to do was focus on Shan and he could find himself instantly at attention, it was getting harder to do so now. He had lived longer than he had ever expected himself too, seen his children grow into amazing adults and have children of their own. He spent the era of peace that came with the defeat of the legion enjoying his mate company as they traveled the world together than relaxing back at home. 

He had known his time was running out when Mal was the first to go, it had hit him hard for awhile but Shan had pulled him back together as she always did. Tyrande had been next  and now Elune was coming to claim him once and for all.

“Shanarra, I love you and I would never do anything to hurt you. But I can’t honor that request. I’m so tired, I can hear Elune calling me Shan. I’ve always been a fighter but now it’s time I rest. Take care of yourself.”

"Please do not leave me now."

Tyrande took her mates hand in her own, even after all these years it still amazed her how much bigger than her own it was.  She smiled and tired silver eyes that didn’t quite glow as brightly as they once did met his flames. 

“Illadryn, I have walked this earth longer than most people could even imagine and seen such wonderful things, met such wonderful people. You of course among them but it would be selfish of me to want more than the life I’ve been given.” 

“Please don’t be upset, I’m not afraid, after all how many times have I eased our people into the Goddesses light? Don’t let Illidan get to worked up over this, I remember how Malfurion’s death affected him, I don’t want my passing to cause him such strife as well.  Do not think of this as good bye, we will see each other again and until then you can always find me in Elune.”
