By far the worst part of the Moira X retcon is the recontextualization of the Proteus Saga and Kevin's existence. In the original story, Moira may have chosen to marry Joe but there was nothing intentional or consensual about Kevin's conception. Joe physically assaulted her and raped her and refused a divorce for 20 years. The retcon twists that story and makes Moira the villain in it. Saying Moira chose and took advantage of Joe to "make" Kevin is downright sinister. An important part of the tragedy of Proteus is that Kevin is an unwanted child. He isn't at fault for who he is but neither is Moira. The retcon makes Moira from a victim of domestic abuse who had no real way to help Kevin into an evil manipulator who chose that life for Kevin and knew exactly what she was doing. I'm all on board for evil Moira in general but the way the initial retcon from Hickman and the additional, post-Inferno confrontations between Moira and Kevin subvert the foundations of both Moira and Kevin's characters is just disgusting and was so, so, poorly thought out.
