Some girls are starstruck by movie stars but not me. I want my picture taken with guys like @farmerleejones , men who are making an enormous difference in the world. Today @neofoodies arranged a wonderful vaccine and mask required tour of the amazing @the_chefs_garden_ohio farm and facility. We bought beautiful vegetables, tasted wonderful ratatouille made with those same glorious vegetables and was truly inspired all over again by the amazing regenerative farming philosophy used by Farmer Lee and his crew. During the worst part of Covid they pivoted to a home delivery model and my niece @bewhole4life turned me onto their beautiful boxes of fresh vegetables. It was such a treat to be able to get these amazing vegetables that I’d read about for years sent right to my door. Give yourself a treat , go to their site and order a box for yourself. You can even donate a box, to help feed a family...something that I appreciate very much. These vegetables are amazing, but the people standing behind them are the real treat. “ Growing vegetables slowly and gently and in full accord with nature.” That’s what is says on the wonderful bag that I got today at @the_chefs_garden_ohio . What a joy their farmstand is... with @farmerleejones standing right there talking to and welcoming his customers and fans. I could have stayed for quite some time just drinking in the joy of this place. Farmer Lee is as sweet , open , welcoming and kind as I hoped he’d be. We bought sweet June berries, little potatoes, fresh peas and beans and of course a copy of his wonderful new cookbook that I’ve been jonesing for since it came out. Farmer Lee and his co-writer will probably win incredible awards for this beautiful book... it’s a @beardfoundation award winner if I’ve ever seen one! Yet the earnestness of the man and his farm is palpable. He wants you to love it as he does and he’s really really glad you’re there. Thanks to @masbiask soup kitchen and @farmerleejones I got a fabulous gift of micro greens and mini-veggies for my seders. I used some but still had so much left over that I’ve been using them all week. Last night: potato salad using about 16 tiny potatoes mixed with a half hard cooked egg left over from the seders, scallions, chopped micro greens and dressing. I stuffed it into the two remaining baby romaine lettuces that came in the gift. What a treat! Perfect for the two of us. Golf Kitchen's Diana DeLucia has created "Swings into Action" to begin a campaign to help one very influencial farmer, Farmer Lee Jones keep one of America's most important farms, The Chef's Garden. For the next many weeks, the top Private Country Club Chef's will create a recipe inspired by the produce in The Chefs Garden, and you can order the box to be sent directly to your home with all of the hand picked produce and items you need to make the one-of-a-kind receipe. And it will come with plating instructions, so you can place the food on your dinner plates the way the chefs would be inspired to. That's plating. Decorating your plate with the food you've prepared. The first Chef to present his creation will be Chef Shaun C. Lewis, Executive Chef and Assistant General Manager at Liberty National Golf Club. The how-to and where to order instructions will be out soon.
