Tried to make a fan design for Rin and Len and experiment with stylisation. I really like the shaky lineart
The design is based on the concept of fasciation (abnormal growth) in flowers, and was inspired by these amazing designs by feefal!
So, really cool find at Lacamas Regional Park while leading a native plant tour for the Portland Chapter of the Native Plant Society! We discovered a thicket of salmonberry that had numerous fasciated flowers. Five petals is normal, but these often had around twenty.
Fasciation happens when meristem, or growth, cells in plants suffer hormonal imbalances; these can be caused by genetic mutations, or external factors like diseases. The affected salmonberry bushes may have a common ancestor with the genetic mutation, or they may have all caught the same contagious disease.
