The irony of Kagetsu: The immigrant that embodies Elusia's virtue
Despite not being from Elusia or being raised with their values, he's the character that embodies their virtue of knowledge in its purest form. Kagetsu has the ambition to learn, the awareness of his own ignorance, and humility to understand all perspectives
Growing up in the isolated Pale Sands, Kagetsu understood that there was an entire world he knew nothing about. The reason he travels is purely because of his desire to learn. He didn't want to stay home and continue being ignorant about everything outside their borders
This contrasts a lot of Elusia that values knowledge as something to hoard. Their political court functions based on how many secrets you can scope out without revealing your own. Characters like Hyacinth meet their end because they falsely assumed they had all the facts and missed obvious red flags. There are implications that a lot of people simply take the information fed to them at face value and learn not to question it. Ivy and Mauvier had to silently defy this standard
Kagetsu is naturally curious about things. He actively seeks new people and perspectives different from his own. He shares his own experiences so everyone can broaden their horizons and learn something new together. Every new discovery is something to be cherished and he correctly states that there's always something new for him every day
While Elusia views knowledge as something to be controlled, Kagetsu views knowledge for what it is. A natural part of living
And there is a sense of irony here that the Kingdom of Knowledge might need an outsider to remind them what their virtue is really meant to be
HAPPY PRIDE IVY 🥳🏳️🌈
a kagetsu for fe scuffle heh
engage has been fun
kagetsu and zelkov are so funny to me bc between the two of them kagetsu is very open and friendly and zelkov well. to borrow a phrase. "oozes killer instinct from his pores like slime." but in truth he just wants to hang out and do his hobbies. kagetsu is the one who craves violence
"is the ocean a soup?" the most controversial topic in Elyosian history, ended by the Divine Dragon after 1000 years of heated debate,
