A lady at the king's court
Nerdanel has white ribbons as her craft is sculpting and stonecarving - I am slowly figuring out my craft = ribbons system - but she only wears them in formal settings, such as when she meets Fëanor in court before they married.
Fëanor is wearing black and white, both expensive colours and stars, while I don´t think the eight pointed star had become his symbol yet, I still think he used it, as it is a very common shape for a star.

Nerdanel the Wise
Amusingly I have finished this Vermeer-inspired courtly portrait of Nerdanel commission I’ve been working on For A While on International Women’s Day so enjoy, snack on, etc! Very happy with how this one turned out!
On the fashion front, late-Victorian inspired with the high frilled collar and brocade but I gave her a furry mantle because she deserves it.

Nerdanel meets some traveling elf while on her journey. He is sometimes nice, and sometimes doesn't stop talking about family drama.
Nerdanel is a little freak
Ñolofinwë: I have been worried about sweet Nerdanel. I fear my brother must be driving her mad with his crass, erratic behavior. I shall pay them a visit.
The day of the visit.
Nerdanel: *opens the door with toddler Maitimo on her hip, both covered in paint, a half-eaten apple in her free hand*
Ñolofinwë: My dearest Nerdanel, how are you faring? You look-
Nerdanel, bellowing through the house: Náro ! Your brother is here.
Ñolofinwë: You certainly look like you could use some help...
Nerdanel: Oh, I was just teaching little Mai how to express his feelings through art. Care to come in? I'm afraid the pie Náro made is still cooking - ah, here's that chisel I lost! Wonderful, wonderful. Náro! Come see your brother!
Ñolofinwë: I can come back another time if you-
Nerdanel: Tulkas' balls, I lost the plans for the new forge.
Fëanáro, appearing from Eru knows where, hissing: The forge?! You lost the plans?!
Nerdanel, lovingly stroking her husband's hair: See! That always works. Do you want to tell your brother about our plans for the new forge and the aqueduct in the garden, Náro? I have to finish little Mai's artwork with him.
Maitimo, cooing: atwok !
That was, indeed, the last time Ñolofinwë worried for his sister-in-law.
